Fun for a Big Open Park 2+ years

Pros:

+ This is a good example of a course that's been put in around the edges of a series of township athletic fields. These loops can be awfully dull to play, but the Elizabeth Township property features a good amount of elevation change, and the design incorporates walking paths and property lines for some sneaky OB

+ Holes 3 - 5 are the best run of the layout. #3 and #4 use the tight treeline of the neighboring property on the right side, and both tees are set up to feel like you're throwing out of chutes. Hole #5 puts a swampy manmade catch basin with tall grasses as an obstacle for about 220' of the direct line off the tee

+ The property is a huge bowl with the playing fields filling the middle. The disc golf course, running along the perimeter, provides for some pretty views across the property

Cons:

- Walking paths: the downside of using them to create tight OB is that they're close to your throwing lines, and walkers will slow the pace of play

- A huge open field, so most holes have few or no trees. There are a few recent plantings; the course will likely improve a bit with time

- Long walk from hole # 8 to hole #9. 9 itself is a good hole, it's just too bad that the positioning of the baseball field really breaks the flow of the round

Other Thoughts:

~ COURSE AMENITIES SUMMARY: Poured concrete tees, excellent DisCatcher baskets, good signage, intuitive layout that starts and ends at the parking lot, restrooms on site

~ Concrete seems to be a big industry in this area. Several of the poured tees were sponsored by different local concrete companies

~ I would normally warn players off courses built by athletic fields at times when the facilities are being used, but I think this layout is smart enough that you could play without interfering. I don't recall any lines crossing directly through the playing fields - although some come very close

~ Elizabeth Township is an excellent example of a mediocre type of course, if that makes any sense. Sure, it's a loop of 9 holes around open athletic fields, but the natural elevation along with some clever design make this a fun place for a quick round
