Unplayable without mowing 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

- A beautiful piece of property, with nice views of the mountains around the Greenbrier Valley, plenty of elevation change, and mostly park-style disc golf with large trees amongst open lawns.
- Lots of clever basket locations, with large trees forcing specific heights and angles.
- A few wooded holes add some extra variety

Cons:

- Desperately, desperately needs to be mowed. Shots in the middle of the fairway (not even the thicker rough!) can be swallowed up in the mats of thick grass, and require very tedious searching. I somehow lost a disc in the center of a fairway, which was absolutely infuriating, but literally all you could do was kick around in the thick mats and hope to make contact. I even had putter approach shots into the circle that I had to search a couple of minutes for. That is completely unacceptable.
- Many of the lines didn't make much sense to me, or at least the sequences of them. There are boring 100 ft. putter straight shots, and then there are holes where seemingly the only option is a 400 ft. sky hyzer. Who is capable of the latter, and still enjoys the former?
- While I admire the quality materials and careful craftsmanship of the tee signs, they are nearly impossible to read, and some seemed out-of-date if I deciphered them correctly.

Other Thoughts:

This score is probably still too generous. Every single shot was in danger of being lost under tangles of tall unmowed grass, and that is absolutely unacceptable.

I'm giving some credit to the potential of the course, as it's a full 18 holes on beautiful property, with some fun shots. If fairways were mown short, this could become an above-average course, and I do think that's worth having on the record, in case conditions change. But at the moment, that potential is completely wasted, and the course is practically unplayable.
