My New Favorite Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 29, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

On the northwest edge of the City of Middletown is a real gem. In this small city's largest park, at the northeast end of the park past the pool, is a well laid out Disc Golf course.

This location is on the edge of the city. More than woodsy, there's a country feel, and some (mostly harmless) wildlife, too. [And also, it's two miles from my home.]

Though there are only six (6) holes on a mostly flat course, the holes present nice lines from pads to baskets. A nice dogleg and hyzer lines for both throwing sides; Short and Long pads, varied tight and technical holes, and various woody hazards provide many challenges.

Hole #1 and Hole #2 are water holes (now) that can penalize play but not cause a lost disc. These wet challenges are often dry beds.

There are just a few markings. But, some physical barrier markings have been designed-in to guide players.

Shoot Hole #1- After backtracking across the tarmac paths from Basket/Pin #1 to Pad/Tee #2, the course is mostly self-guiding. After sinking your disc, look around to easily find the next Long or Short GRAVEL pad.

Cons:

Rain the day before left wet, muddy areas that were mostly limited to the first four holes. Much mud on Hole #2 and your disc may find some on Hole #1. Mud was sporadic, otherwise. Will have to see if this is a seasonal thing and/or a drainage concern.

Hole #1 and a couple other pads seem a little short when taking steps driving toward the fairway to the basket.

Some of the areas, on fairways too, are very rocky.

Light hiking boots will be my preference here.

Other Thoughts:

It's early spring so, though the course is woody there are no leaves yet. Doesn't look like much undergrowth will happen either.

The woodsy character is visually pleasing and comfortable. A watershed catchment (pond) is visible, down a slope, to the left approaching Hole #5 to the pad at Hole #6.

Some elevation change would be a welcome addition when the new holes are added to the course.

~~~ Additional Review
a) Park near the pool off F.Shorter Way instead of Lake Ave side. Walk up the tarmac pathway to the right of the pool fence. Set your GPS Car Parked (if you have it).
b) When you reach the 'T' in the road keep walking straight to tee GRAVEL Hole/Pad #1 (Note: To your back/right is Pad #2).
Hole #1) From Pad #1 you are throwing opposite the pool. There is a water hazard (wet now/sometimes dry bed) just before the basket Pin which is very slightly left of the fairway line.
Hole #2) Very slightly to the left, there's a straight line to the basket. The fairway slopes down to a muddy area then rises back up (quick) after the water hazard.
Hole #3) Just throw straight. It's a rocky walk to the basket.
Hole #4) Awesome dogleg! Hyzer is your friend.
Hole #5) Take a long shot. If you miss you may get another chance. Make it right.
Hole #6) The Short pad to the pin is a slight left. Go deep.
Where to from here? Please Do NOT get lost on my account.
You can backtrack the last few holes toward the pool, to the left or down the gravel utility pathway toward the 'Rotary Ring'. Did you set your GPS Car Parked App thing?
