The Basket Is Closer Than It Appears 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 13, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

A quickie church course, the rubber tees and high-quality baskets show that some serious care went into this project.

The first four holes all have considerable OB to contend with.  Hole 1 is downhill with a road all along the left side, hole 2 has the parking lot close behind the basket, and hole 4 is much thinner than what I would consider normal for a beginner-level course such as this.

Hole 3, if the existing fencing stays in place, is a tough hole.  The tee has been moved back from the picture and is on the outside of the black fence, playing along the parking lot with a two foot wide fairway to a green that is only about 20ft deep.  Both forehand and backhand players will be sailing over OB most of the way and needing to stop quickly.  Of course the hole can be played without OB rules, but this makes an excellent hole on an otherwise dull course.

Drastic elevation changes on holes 1, 2, and 9 are probably the most memorable part of the course.  1 and 9 play downhill, while 2 is a 275ft uphill and probably the toughest hole to reach distance-wise.

Cons:

Holes 4-8 are board flat and starkly uninteresting.  The OB challenge on 4 is the only real difficult part.  They're all under 260' and have nothing in the way except air.

Hole 7 is criminally short.  Calling it 87ft is probably too generous.  The worst part is that there is plenty of room to back that tee pad up without being in danger of getting in the way of discs landing on hole 9.

On the topic of distance, there is some to be found - holes 2, 8, and 9 are all over 250' - but the majority won't be much of a huck for most people. More frustrating is that the space is there to have had a little more meat on these holes.

Hole 9, you climb up a hill just to turn around, throw, and walk straight back down.  At least the elevation is fun.

Other Thoughts:

The highlight holes of this course are unfortunately overshadowed by the drudgery of holes 4-8.  While those may be good for some target practice/ace runs, the first three holes are quite good and hopefully the fencing stays in place on hole 3 to create that difficult green.

I really appreciate the work that went into this course.  The tees are pretty even and the baskets look great.  Upkeep was obviously being done as well, even in the middle of November.

Overall, unless you're running through St Joe and bagging courses, this course isn't worth your time.  It is a quick round with a few good holes to test your control, but not a whole lot to write home about.

Pros:

Decent pads and good baskets. A few ok holes.

Cons:

Nothing is marked. No numbers on pads or baskets. Mostly wide open.

Other Thoughts:

Holes 1-3 are the best holes I thought. 1 and 2 are separate from the rest. Shortest hole is 78 feet and the longest is 300 downhill. 4-9 are in a small open field.
