GSU spent some money with DGP, great idea! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 5, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brand new DiscGolfPark layout that was installed last year. You name it, they went first class on everything:
Two good sized, smooth concrete tee pads on every hole.
Great tee signs at both tees, very informative.
The Blue DISCatchers are still in like-new condition.
Good next tee signs on every hole, there are even separate ones if the tees are down different paths.
Good sized fairways on all holes, shouldn't be too frustrating for the college students.
Nice mix of left and right turning holes, no elevation to speak of, but several types of shots required.
Very nice "Disc Golf and Tennis Parking Only" signs in the nearest parking lot.

Cons:

Two holes that start in the woods, then finish in the open are your only break from this wooded course. There is a sizeable open field (that #2 finishes in) that is barely used. Then a walk across the other side of this open field back to the parking lot. It would have been nice to have at least one open hole, for variety. It appears to be used for open play, but looks like a missed opportunity.
About half the holes provide different looks from the two tees, the other half just add more distance.

Other Thoughts:

Good recent addition to this satellite campus in Savannah. Should provide a good opportunity for the students to learn a new sport and hone their skills before moving on to the best course in the area, Tom Triplett.
It's really impressive how well all the equipment was installed here, all the tee pads are a great size, flush to the ground and pointing in the right direction.
The baskets are level and positioned well, most are not guarded but #3 (?) is on a small mound.
#2 and #5 are Par 4 from the long tee and those are appropriate. #5 has a pretty sharp turn in the fairway that would be tough to clear from the tee.
#9 finishes with a dual fairway through scattered trees, finishing primarily in the open field.
The course is set in an otherwise unused part of the campus, so there shouldn't be any outside interferences. A good course for college students to get outside. Good job GSU and DGP!
