Hackett

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 26, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

18 holes (plus one additional hole, 14B, as an alternate) with yellow DIScatcher baskets in fair condition. Tee pads are paver blocks and are also in good condition. Course plays with a good mix of open holes as well as wooded holes with quite a good amount of elevation, and a few par fours are mixed in as well. Tee signs have been redone and are excellent. Grass was short and well maintained. Bathrooms by hole one, and (in season) the water fountain by the fields between 9-10 is available. Course does loop close enough to where you can access the car after hole 9 if you so need (but see cons). Unique elevated basket on hole 11.

Cons:

1 is often unplayable, as many people park there for shade or to visit the memorial just beyond the basket. Hole 4's basket can be confused with 9's basket, and the basket for 14B can appear to be the actual basket for 14 (it's the one on the bottom of the hill, to the right). Lastly, there are long walks from 9-10, and from 18 back to the car. Off the fairway is very unforgiving, so take caution.

Other Thoughts:

I remember a lot about the old layout and this layout, and this layout is a lot of fun. You have your shorter, more aceable holes; then you have your longer, testy par fours, and you have a lot of elevation in both directions. It's worth your time if you're visiting the Lehigh Valley.

Better than expected! 2+ years

Pros:

Great park setting. Good use of elevation! Wooded and open holes. Good mix. Not too hard but not a pitch and putt course. I am an 870 rated older player. I shot a +7 1st time playing here. I enjoyed it alot, I will be back for sure. New tees on most of the holes. Tees on every hole.
The hardest hole on the course is a par 4 hole 10 wooded. Most enjoyable holes were 4, 7, 11, 14, 17 big arms can have some fun here.

Cons:

Gotta update the signage. That is the only glaring shortcoming. I am sure they are working on it due to all the new Tee pads, signage must be in the works. Rough is rough. So you know what they say....... don't throw it there !! Long walk from 9 to 10 and back up the hill after 18. Not terrible but thought I'd mention it. This course is pretty spread out, plenty of walking. Great for some, not great for others. I happen to like the extra walking.

Other Thoughts:

this place is likely spectacular in the spring time. Lots of manicured lawns that the parks guys keep up with. Once the signage is up this place gets 4 to 4.5 stars.

A course that has made major changes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 26, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Front 9's layout change has made better use of the space available at the park and now every hole is unique and challenging.
- long and short holes with mixed woods and vast greens.
- good use of elevation

Cons:

- signage/basket numbers are not all accurate.
- 15-17 can be overgrown in the summer with tall grass.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a great course that could use minor fixes to really perfect it. I personally love playing only the front 9 as it begins and ends at same place and the variety of those holes compared to the back 9 really stand out to me as an amazing greater lehigh valley disc golf course.
