My first dgc 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 20, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I have not been here for a while, and when I was going here, they were always improving and adding on. It is located in a very family friendly place. I would say it is a beginner to intermediate course. The only way to lose a disk is to have some tree hate hide it or to have it or buried in the forest.

Cons:

Some of the holes went along side of the road and the tee was the worn patch if dirt in some spots. The flow and signage at some sessions left much to be desired.

Other Thoughts:

It is an ever evolving course that I would be excited to go back to and see the new flow and challenges every year. The people who maintain it care so much for it and make every year a somewhat different course. It is a beginner to intermediate level course. I might be bias since this is where my friend taught me, but it makes me want to go back even more.

Hackett Park October 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 22, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very good t-pads and some signage.
Diverse engaging course with mix of open, wooded/rocky technical, up and downhill.
Course in ideal shape.
No people visiting the park taking up space on fairways.
Free.

Cons:

Could use better signage, but course is on a public park and likely things get destroyed....
Potential for non-DG's inhabiting the fairways.
Bring Udisc.

Other Thoughts:

Other reviewers have had issues with people on the fairways etc... However we experienced none of this. We played on a Sunday in mid October on an overcast/drizzly weather day. We played the course 2x and had saw only a few dog walkers and one other group of DG's. Apparently there is a tournament coming up next week so the course is in very good shape. Grass was cut. Some fantastic and challenging holes on the back nine that will require skill and shot selection. I would recommend this course if in the area. Not quite at the level of Jordan Creek, but a very fun course.

Under rated gem 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 24, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

I don't understand why this course is rated as low as it is. The fun factor and overall design is fantastic. I'm from Indiana and don't have this type of elevation to play with everyday but so much fun throwing long bombs down some very scenic hills! Love the variation in Par 3's and 4's. Me and my playing partner had little to no difficulties with navigation using the UDisc app map. Most holes had very fair, well defined fairways and tees were in overall good shape. Good mix of open and more technical holes through the woods. Disc catcher Baskets have a bit of rust on the chains, but caught discs fine.

Cons:

You can pretty much ignore the signage because it's all wrong. Rely on the info in UDisc.

Hole 10 has so much potential but as it is now, it's a throw and hope hole. More tree clearing needs to be done to make the drive fair.

Footing can be a little dicey on some of the wooded holes so be careful.

Other Thoughts:

I actually enjoyed this course more than nearby South Mountain and it's really worth a visit IMO. Was able to enjoy with my brother in law while our wives and kids were enjoying nearby Crayola Experience.

Be sure to stop at the Oh Wow Cow ice cream shop nearby after your round.
