Hee Haw! The Hillbilly Is Some Down Home Fun! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 9, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

The little 9 hole Hillbilly course plays up and down and through the woods at the Laurie Fairgrounds. The course starts right by the horseshoe pits (you didn't think it started by the Starbucks stand, Did you?).

The tee poles have a sponsor on each as well as a small as a map on a small map. The tee pads are crushed rock and tend to puddle up. The baskets are cheap, rusted out models of unknown origin. Most holes have a garbage pail attached to the tee pole.

# 1 plays to a basket in the trees. Then # 2 is 178' to a basket through the trees. # 3 plays 340' gently downhill past the fairground's dumping grounds. # 4 is an anhyser throw featuring a tight Mando. 5 is just 210 across some high grass. # 6 is 217' through the woods. # 7 is a little longer at 355'. # 8 is finally a chance for you to get some big air. It's 400' across the valley. But # 9 is perhaps the signature hole here. It's a 400' throw with a low Initial window you need to stay below.

Cons:

Crummy baskets.

Tee pads aren't that impressive either.

Funky signs.

Trashy dumping area on the # 3 fairway.

Walkway is partially blocked by fallen limbs between 5 and 6, I think?

Other Thoughts:

The Hillbilly course kinda lives up to it's name. It kinda has this Appalachian vibe going for it. You know how the poor people in Appalacia used to make their own musical instruments or toys for their kid's Christmas. It has somewhat the same feel here. Like folks built this course using whatever material they had on hand. Maybe, i was just influenced because the fairgrounds have such a rustic/hillbilly feel with the pioneer buildings and all.

Regardless, it's still a pretty fun throw. If I lived here and I was a hillbilly, I'd come and play and have a hoop and a hollar time.
