Worth the trip 2+ years

Pros:

It's a worthy 18 hole course now...

You will find concrete tees and proper baskets on all holes. The grass has improved, and the trees have grown since the pictures were taken. The map from 10/2014 is also obsolete.

There is plenty of parking around, and the course is basically in downtown Kuna, lately one of the fastest growing towns in America. There are restaurants and bars adjacent to the park. So close, you can pop off the course and grab a bite or a beer and jump back on again. There is a river in play on several holes, and the course makes good use of the trees and slightly rolling terrain. This is going to be a super nice park once all the trees mature as the entire park is very tidy and well kept. That is a theme in Idaho.

It's rare to wait on people, and if you do, this is Idaho, most are eager to let you play through. People will even wait for you to fully catch them up to make for an even smoother transition.

Cons:

It's not really a con, but there are quite a few walkers and the occasional happy dog looking to give you a friendly sniff while trying to poach a scratch. These people filter through quite rapidly, and most of the sidewalks aren't precisely in play anyway. Dogs are awesome so there is that.

I have this peeve, and it can be seen on some of the tee pads. Now it may just be me, but I like flat and level tee pads. There are a couple of holes where the pads aren't level. Instead, they sometimes follow the terrain of the turf. Some of my friends like a longer run up and complained that some tee's were too short as well. Minor gripe, and its likely due to park management and the litigious nature of people when it comes to tripping hazards.

Other Thoughts:

Some of the usual suspects I play with say this may be the best course in the Treasure Valley. The same that complained the pads weren't long enough... I could be convinced. It gets scorching in the desert, and this course plays along a cool running river. It's an especially good choice for hot summer days. The place also looks better and better each time I return.

If you are a Boise resident and you haven't play Kuna yet, you need to check it out. You won't be disappointed. Although the holes aren't typically very long, the pins are well placed and the sidewalks, fences, roads and river make for challenging OB propositions. I like this place a lot.

Great Job, Kuna! 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Good flow from start to finish.
Good use of elevation.
Good use of trees and grass.
Good use of water hazards.

Cons:

There were several areas throughout the course where water seemed to seeping from the ground, making for soggy walking. Not a course flaw, but a civic problem to be aware of.
If you have a big arm and like to let them fly, this may not be your course.
It's not near anything else, but you could easily play twice through and have a good time.

Other Thoughts:

Despite the proximity to Indian Creek, picnic tables and grills, and the pathway, the designer did a good job making sure there is never too much danger of ruining your game.

Hole 1 - plays right along the water.
Hole 2 - plays uphill back towards the parking lot and restrooms.
Hole 3 - the tee is behind the restrooms. Plays downhill and around the curve of the softball field.
Hole 4 - plays downhill towards to skate park.
Hole 5 - plays longer and uphill to the right of the path. Don't be confused by the basket to #8 down by the water.
Hole 6 - longest hole plays uphill and to the right in the (now) grass behind Pizza Hut.
Hole 7 - plays back the way you came into a hollow in some tall overhanging trees.
Hole 8 - starts down by the water and plays blind, dogleg to the right.
Hole 9 - backtrack a little for the tee next to the path. Plays downhill into the trees feet from the water's edge!
Hole 10 - plays along the path but is double blind.
Hole 11 - plays uphill back into the park.
Hole 12 - backtrack to the path to find the tee. Plays back into the park near the blue and orange BSO picnic table.

I ran into the Course designer out there and he told me I had missed the tee for #6 (it's tricky to find). He was pretty proud of Hole #8 and #9 and rightly so. He says they may be adding 6 more holes across the street next year.

Let's assume that this is a Par-3 course. Many of the holes are possible to Birdie. I was not having a game of my life and shot -1. It was pretty gusty and I had a 2 and 5 year old with me and I got a Bogie on #6 and a Birdie on #8 and #12. I hit metal a few times too.

Great course to play.
