An Eric McCabe specialty

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 3, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Large map at the start of the course so you can take a picture to help with navigation if you need it
- Two large concrete tee pads on every hole, shorter and longer
- Long tee pads add distance and also change the shape of some holes
- Baskets are in great condition and many have flags on the top to judge wind
- Though most drives are open, many upshots are guarded by trees, some baskets are placed after a tunnel of trees you must throw through
- Many par 4 and even par 5 holes from the long pads
- Multiple basket locations, minimum of 2 but as many as 5 on some holes
- The long pads will challenge almost any player
- Lots of different shots required and much variety in terms of left to right/right to left/straight finish holes
- A water carry over a pond that acts as an island hole, most can carry this from the short pads
- Good mix of park style grass and also wooded holes
- Fantastic tee signs show par, distance, different basket locations, shape of the hole, etc.
- Variety of doglegs test placement off the tee

Cons:

- The course feels a little too open off the tee
- Hole 2 is a wide open throw across a grass field with a basket elevated by bricks and is a very boring hole, the worst on the course
- Some of the basket locations I played felt worse than some of the ones I saw on the sign. One of my problems with multiple basket locations is many of them are bad and the best one becomes apparent but still they move them around to all of the bad ones which seems like is happening here
- Some tricky navigation sections aren't always abundantly clear. I know we live in the age of Udisc but courses should still keep traveling players and those who don't want to break their phone out every hole for directions in mind

Other Thoughts:

Overall this seems to be a very well done course by Eric McCabe but it shows that a pro from Kansas designed it. Challenging yes in most of the right ways but I'm a woods man myself and enjoy tighter lines than this course offers. That being said I still think this is a very well done course and one that you will discover more about over time which is always a good sign for a course. I played all three of the courses near Durant in the same day and I recommend any and all of them. Lost Loksi is the more wooded course close by and Carl Albert is the 9 holer in town that is also well done and a fun throw. Durant doesn't have tons of disc golf courses but they do have good ones so if you're close by spend a day in Durant playing some fine courses.

A must play! drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 17, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great variety of shot shapes and distances
Multiple tee pads and pin placements
Mandos, fairly flat, great use of park space!
Water hazards, concrete tee pads, great signage!
Another McCabe gem!

Cons:

N/A

Other Thoughts:

If the park can keep up with the maintenance of this course- this will turn out to be a destination for many players within an hour drive! Love the baskets & signage makes it easy to navigate and play!

Harder then it looks 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 19, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great baskets and 2 pads per hole. They also have 2 Basket placements for each hole. They have some wide open then a few forest and 1 water hole. The distance from the far basket and/or far tee makes this course good for more experienced players. They have signs on each hole.

Other Thoughts:

When you cross the land bridge to go from 10-11 the pad you see is 14 turn left to go to 11.

This course does not look hard but some blind shots and trees or distance makes it harder than it looks.

If the wind is blowing(and in OK it does) it will play even more difficult.
