Better than the reviews drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is in a beautiful section of woods with a great view of the lake. Very quiet setting for being in town. This course won't challenge your distance but will challenge your accuracy. Most of the woods isn't too thick with little chance of losing a disc.

Cons:

A few holes are very tight with some nasty rough but the chance of losing a disc diminishes greatly after the first 3 holes. Because it is tight it is better to play in a group where you can use a spotter if necessary.

Other Thoughts:

This was a much nicer course than I was expecting and if given a little TLC it would be even better. I would definelty play it again. Drive up to the school and park by the Reef Center by the Reef Dance center entrance.

Not bad 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 25, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

interesting holes, wooded, scenic

Cons:

garbage everywhere including many of the baskets, 1 basket missing and just twine on a pole for a basket, signage was poor, course ends in the middle of the woods

Other Thoughts:

This is my hometown, but have been playing the Bemidji course at college. Bemidji is much better, but this course isn't bad. Definitely needs better maintenance. Could be a great course, but isn't to that point yet!

Getting Greasy on the Tee 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 15, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Very scenic and heavily wooded.
- Very technical. Precision and placement is key.
- Good elevation changes.

Cons:

- Maintenance/upkeep seemed to be an issue...as at least two holes had major tangles of downed trees and brush that we had to play over/around/through.

Other Thoughts:

It's been a while since I played this one (memory is a bit rusty), but after reading the prior two reviews, I had to chime in. What the previous two reviewers seem to dislike about this course (TIGHT, technical) is exactly why I believe it is *the* course to play (along with Hibbing) when I'm in the Range Cities area. Precision and placement off the tee is 80% of the battle...and it's refreshing to find another course that isn't just a wide-open "bomber" off the tee.

Folks are right. A driver isn't really necessary on this one! But why does that need to be a negative? If anything, the ultra-technical nature of this design makes it a positive. A nice change of pace compared to many courses out there.
