Fresh new course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 2, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Use of obstacles 10/10. The designer did a great job using the obstacles they had to make a solid course. There are definitely some unique shots set up by the combination of elevation and obstacles.

Disc Finding 10/10. You should spend very little time looking for discs. There is a small amount of woods to the right of hole 3 and a couple patches throughout, but overall nothing you should ever lose a disc in.

Course Maintenance 10/10. The park is very clean and well mowed/maintained. Running water and restrooms on site. A few benches on the course that are all in good condition. Signage in good condition.

Comfort 9/10. Slight knock for being near the path on hole 3 and potentially having to worry about grip locking into a little league baseball game on 17.

Navigation 9/10. Navigation between holes is great, tee signs show where the next tee is. It can be a little tough to tell which pin position the basket is in on a couple holes.

Decisionmaking 8/10. This course has quite a few holes that really make you think about what kind of shot to throw. There are a few that are more wide open and straightforward but still very good overall.

Baskets/Tees 8/10. Baskets are new DISCatchers. Tees are rubber mats, not as good as concrete but serviceable. They have a couple of slight bumps to them but I haven't really found it to be very noticeable while playing.

Variety of distances 7/10. Good mix of shot and long holes with 3 over 450ft (6, 8, 16) and 5 under 220ft (5, 7, 10, 11, 15). The rest are in the 240-350ft range.

Elevation 7/10. There aren't many severe elevation changes, but the elevation definitely comes into play and is used very well with a mix of uphill/downhill and a few more unique features.

Cons:

Variety of Shot Paths 3/10. No holes with major doglegs, though there are still several that favor right to left (4, 11, 17) or left to right (5 and 14). Hole 7 also requires an S with an anny RHFH or LHBH

Alternate Hole positions 3/10. About half the holes don't have an alternate, and the other half have one alternate. Most of the ones that are in do change the feel of the hole either by changing the angle or adding some significant distance or both.

Variety of openness 4/10. This course is fairly open, you won't find many super technical shots. There are definitely some lines you have to hit though (particularly holes 4, 7, and 13). Most of the holes that do have tighter gaps are more open on the tees with the obstacles coming about halfway to the hole, which makes it more beginner friendly

Challenging all levels 5/10. This is a great course for beginners/kids with the lack of rough and forgiving obstacles, and it provides enough challenge for intermediate players to be entertained. Advanced players will be bored by several holes and could reasonably expect to shoot -10 or better.

Other Thoughts:

Overall Challenge 3/10
More Precise Rating 3.310

There was previously a 9-hole ball golf Par 3 course that was pulled in favor of the disc golf course. They did a great job of using what they had to make a solid course, my rating is on the border of between a 3.0 and a 3.5. Concrete tees and a couple more alternate hole positions could move it to a more solid 3.5 but there probably isn't much that could be done beyond that.

This course is still pretty new and hasn't been crowded at all any of the 3 times I've played. I suspect more people will show up as they become aware of it as it's a very good course for recreational players.
