Pros:

Mississippi Park DGC is a basic 18 hole park style course. The course plays alongside the river it's named after in Empire Park, so there's some nice views out here. The course starts to the east next to the railroad tracks an heads north for the first 6 holes before turning west toward the river and then playing back south toward the lot for the most part for the final 12 holes.

The baskets are all Discatchers, all are newer and in greta shape. These are all mounted nice and level and catch everything. For whatever reason some have the standard yellow band and the others have a dark blue band. The blue ones are newer looking but all of them are work great. One basket and pin placement per hole.

There's tee signs marking the tee areas, which are just grass. The tee signs are mounted on metal posts which make locating them very simple. The signs themselves just have the hole #. Better than nothing obviously, but this is really all that's needed since you can see every basket from every tee anyway.

The course is totally flat and mostly open. There are some trees that come into play on some holes though too. Due to it being right along the Mississippi river the wind can be pretty brutal out here though. That's going to be the main factor you're going to have to contend with.

The course is up year round and free to play. The park itself was clean and well maintained on our visit in early August.

There's a decent mix of different distances out here. The holes range in length from 185' on hole ten all the way up to 565' on hole 1. Most fall in the 200-300' range though.

Cons:

Very open course so it starts to feel like the same thing over and over, especially toward the very end. There's just not much in the way of obstacles out here. It is what it is, but definitely one of the more bland courses in this area. At least out of the ones I've played.

The walking path comes into play all throughout the course, especially on the latter half.

There's some goofy transitions on the back half as well. There's a pretty lengthy walk from hole 10 to 11, and to a lesser degree 14 to 15. You have to walk backwards to get to hole 16's tee after holing out on 15. Just some slightly annoying transitions.

A few of the fairways play parralell to each other. Only a concern if it's busy obviously, but just a cramped design in a few spots.

Other Thoughts:

This course is kind of the opposite of the rest of the nearby courses. Which can be a good thing. After playing both courses at Camden Park it was nice to not have to trek up anymore hills that day. That said, this one was the weakest course I've played in the Quad cities.

Not worth any trip out of your way to play, but if you do find yourself near here or passing through it's a pretty quick play and is fun, just not as epic as some of the other courses in the area. Still worth a play, just don't put it at the top of your list.

Pros:

Well maintained
New baskets
Short, open holes good for beginners
Shot variation
Easy to navigate

Cons:

Nothing too technical
Multi-use park (not necessarily a con but be cautious of bikers and trail runners)
Natural tees

Other Thoughts:

Overall, great course for what it is. Short, simple park course for casual learners and beginners. Not a pro course or one to work on too technical of shots but there is good shot variation and multiple lines. Mostly open shots with a few trees coming into play starting hole 3. Fun for practice or testing new discs.

Well kept and brand new baskets. Natural tees. Signs only tell hole number, no map route or distance to pin. Course is easy to navigate and more info isn't needed to easily play.

Would definitely play again for a quick round. Recommend bringing a newbie or family!
