Better Than The Original Arrow Lake Layout. 2+ years

Pros:
(1.688 Rating) A beginner friendly nine with friendly par figures.
- NEW LIFE ON GOOD BASKETS - The baskets here are from a brand I've only seen one other time in my travels and it was a course just down the road that got the axe. Thus, they were reused here. The brand is called Catch 21. They aren't top of the line quality, but they are still better than models like MachIIs and Instep. They still catch well, despite a few small dings and slight unlevelness.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - The course has been laid out to be very beginner friendly. The course plays threw mostly open fields that appear to be mowed completely regularly. There is no water in play and it will be hard to lose a disc. All these elements make this course great for new players and families.
- COURSE MAP - The course amenities are limited. But, one thing that was done outstandingly was the wonderfully painted course map on the community board. It's big, accurate and detailed. I'd recommend taking a picture as I referenced it a couple times during my round for navigational purposes. Also, there are free scorecards in a mailbox attached to the board.
- RESTROOMS - Nice men's and women's restroom next to tee one. I only mention this as I was reaching for nice things to comment on.
- QUICK PLAY - It took this quick player 26 minutes to finish the round.

Cons:
The course appears to have already peaked and is heading the other way.
- MULTI USE HAZARDS - The course plays on the inside of a paved walking loop. This path comes into play on 3 shots and partially in play on a couple others. The layout is open however, so players will have plenty of warning on when not to throw. Expect some waiting if there are lots of walkers present.
- TEE AREA - The tees are natural without leveling or a defined throwing line. The nice paver artwork for the tee signs are already heavily faded and have weeds growing in and around them. No benches or places to set a bag.
- PLANTINGS BY BASKETS - Several baskets have newer trees and shrubs planted within ten feet of the basket. I was especially bothered on hole (7) where there's a new tree planted 10 feet directly in front of the basket. I don't necessarily have a problem with close trees, but young stuff is going to get killed off if there's enough disc golf play. Also, the close shrub plantings will likely burgeon out and start to engulf baskets. Whomever was responsible, whether placing baskets near the new plantings or someone planting vegetation near baskets, obviously didn't know what they were doing.
- NAVIGATION - Doable, but not the easiest. As noted above, I looked at my picture of the course map a couple times. There are no directional cues at the baskets, the tee signs are pavers flush with the ground and the layout is open with several baskets in view the whole time.
- AMENITIES AND EXTRAS - As already noted, decent baskets, sub-par tees and a great course map. Beyond these noted items, it's a lot of, "Nope, not here." No extra tees, no alt placements, no benches and no practice basket.
- HOLE VARIETY - The park is generally open with some sporadic older trees. 6 holes felt obstacle free, although there is a few small trees and bushes around baskets on these holes. Elevation is a minor factor with gradual 15 to 20 foot elevation rises and falls. As noted, no water elements as well. Par 4s are indicated on 3 holes, but to veteran players, these are par 3s as well as they are all sub 350 feet.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - In my personally opinion, the landscape is nice, but slightly below average in aesthetics compared to all the courses I've played thus far. I went with 35 percentile. A little too open and too many man-made structures in view the entire time.
- PARKING - Very few parking spaces are available here. Less than ten by my count.

Other Thoughts:
I think if I would have played this when it first opened, I would have scored it a low 2.0. There are some nice elements to this place, but there are too many deficiencies compared to the average course. I do think this course is much better than the prior Arrow Lake layout, but it wouldn't have taken much to trump that old dud. I was hoping to see some new investment here, compared to the noted items on the prior reviews, but there hasn't. In fact, the course has begun to go the other way as it looks like few people are playing it. The supposed tee box throwing scars are not that evident. Overall, not worth traveling to, unless you are within a ten-minute drive. If concrete pads were to be poured, I would consider upping the rating to a low 2.0.

Pros:
I always enjoy playing a new course and I drive past this one a few times a month. If you are an avid disc golfer and have 30 minutes to spare, this is worth a quick detour.
Good course for beginners who are just picking up the game.
Hey - there are beautiful horses in the fields that surround the course. That was the highlight for me. The horses! haha.

- Light weight chains are not the best
- For some reason small bushes are planted around the baskets, it just seems like bad placement. They are going to be trampled.

- No teepads, just dirt or mud patches next to tiles on the ground
- I believe the distances are close but not accurate

- This is basically a wide open field with some random trees. Given the amount of land, not much that can be done.

This course is in a very small town and if you live in Mt Pleasant it is a good place to learn how to play disc golf. Anyone who is just passing through should keep looking for other courses in the area.
