Very fun course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 16, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very fun course through a beautiful, scenic forest. Innova Discatchers, signage was good and turf teepads. Friendly locals pointed me in the right direction on occasion. Good mix of short and technical holes and long wider fairway holes. Very small chance of losing a disc here.

Cons:

I was there during the rainy season so the course was quite sloppy. The turf teepads were muddy and a disc towel is a must. Mostly a flat course but there's a big hill with a ski jump that was begging to be thrown down. It was a little busy in the morning when I was there but was informed the course can be very crowded sometimes.

Other Thoughts:

I took a Princess Cruise throughout Scandinavia and played 6 courses including this one. I focused on the closest but most quality 18+ hole courses I could find near the port. I took a taxi and had very little trouble finding the course. I really enjoyed this course but wish they would have used a little more of the elevation there. I ended up playing with a couple locals and when I asked one to call a taxi, he offered me a ride back to the port which I was very appreciative.

Very good, despite ongoing changes 2+ years drive by

Pros:

21 holes. Paths are maintained and make it easy to find and get to the next hole. Great variety. Fairly heavily wooded (a plus for me), but not a disc-devouring course. Beautiful views and hiking. Other trails nearby are also excellent. Public transportation will take you there and back to downtown Tallinn for only a few Euros. Great signage. Good tees. Plenty of friendly local talent playing the course and willing to give you information you might be missing.

Cons:

At the time of this review, the main disadvantage was that the course was being re-arranged and all the holes were being re-numbered. This is the reason why I didn't assign hole numbers to the photos I submitted. After the course and the signage is updated, it will likely be an "excellent" course. Regardless, the course caretakers have started updating the signage by crossing out outdated information and writing in the updated information with permanent marker. Pay attention to the manually updated course numbers on the signage; it is accurate.

Other Thoughts:

At the time I played, there were no reviews for Estonian courses. I was excited to be the first to review, but I anticipated this also meant that the courses in the area would be rather bland and simplistic and that finding skilled locals to converse with would be a challenge. Nothing could be further from the truth. The course was busy with talented and knowledgeable locals. I had the opportunity to play with one man who played competitively and knew the current state of the global game as well as anyone. It's great to see the sport is so well received across the world. Although this is the only course I was able to play in Estonia, I wouldn't be surprised if many of the others in the area are also high quality courses.
