Wild and Woody 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 26, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

While small and short, it played quite challenging on the first run through. Most of the holes were about 250-350 feet long and played fairly straight forward. Signature hole would easily be number 4, which was flanked on the left side by a stream, and played straight through a narrow tree lined fairway. Hole 8 was also interesting (suggest a hammer or tomahawk) but easy to birdie with a solid drive over some very tall tree obstacles.

Cons:

Trees and lots of them. Holes 1 and 3 were mostly open, while the rest played deep tall woods and over growth. This obscured pin placement on a number of holes. Disc loss is moderate and very possible. Tee boxes are unusually small concrete pads, and signage can be misleading.

Other Thoughts:

We played after a moderate rain, and the stream lining 4 and 5 was running fast and brown. We actually lost a driver in the muck of it. Lots of tree coverage, so feel free to take a few beers for the course, but remember to take the empties with you and recycle.

All in all, this course offered enough challenge for an advanced player (me) to keep it interesting. I played with 2 novice players who also found it enjoyable, but frustrating at times (tree golf anyone?)
