Short Little Pitch & Putt Has It Challenges! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 13, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Palo Cedro Community Park appears to be a popular local attraction for families with small children. The children's playground area was quite busy. The disc golf course starts right near the play area.

Note: Hole # 1 tee pad is over by the fence on the right side of the park. You have to walk by # 8 & 9 to get to # 1.

The course is a pitch and putt all the way. Distances are 131', 156', 156', 197', 157', 190', 234', 153', and 235'. But don't lulled by these short distances into thinking that this course is a cupcake and that you're going to birdie every hole. Most holes have just enough trees in strategic locations to add a little challenge to your game. I'm willing to bet that you will hit a few trees during your round here.

The baskets are brand new DGA models. They're very pretty. The tee pads are small 4' x 8' concrete. But then no run up is needed here, right. The basic signs give the hole #, par, and distance.

There are lots of fun little throws here. A couple are very easy. Others more challenging.

# 4 is straight for 197' but tight and technical with lots of small trees.

# 6 is 190' but there is a fairly narrow gap you must thread at the 90' mark.

Cons:

OK, it's a Pitch & Putt. If it's that easy, you should be getting nine ACES, right?

I didn't like # 9 throwing across the parking lot. There could be cars parked there. It's just not a good or a safe design feature.

Also, it's strange that # 1 starts over by the fence instead of right by the parking lot. Another quirky design feature.

Other Thoughts:

If you haven't played Palo Cedro, by all means come out and give it a shot. Great practice for your short game. A super course just to chase ACES. Only the best place to initiate your friends, children, wives or girlfriends to disc golf.

The snobby Christians at Simpson University might not be real accommodating but Palo Cedro Comminity Park is open and ready to fulfill your disc golf fantasy, i.e. Your first ACE!
