Diamond in the rough

This is a nice Pitch and Putt located just a few blocks from downtown Chewelah. My wife and I played it twice while visiting family in the area. She has played 3 rounds of disc golf in her life and was able to have a very enjoyable time of it. Afterwards, she suggested that we play more together when we get home. We are both retired so dg is a great form of exercise. I, who has been playing for about 3 years, had fun throwing my putter on different lines. Most poles are straight shots without any obstacles. Except for #8 which is through a gap in the trees.
While we were there, the course manager came out and played with us the second time through and told some history of disc golf in Chewelah.

BTW, the baskets are Discatchers.

Signage could be a lot better. We struggled to find it and then struggled to determine where to park (just pull off the road into the grass).
The CM had just moved some baskets around so the hole signs were hand written. Not a big deal.
The main issue with this course is that it hasn't been mowed so far this year. The grass is about knee high. Luckily, for me, I'm used to playing in sage brush, range grass, and rocky terrain so it didn't bother me a bit.
I would probably rearrange it to utilize the circle of trees in the center of the course.

Other Thoughts:

I hope disc golf in Chewelah grows and this course gets expanded or moved to a larger parcel of open space but still near downtown.

Previous review not accurate

Lots of potential for this course, some of us die hard will be maintaining this course in a few weeks in mid April since the city of chewelah doesn't.

Set up is a bit funky no previous baskets have ever been moved according to other reviews, only sceenery has changed! Bushes on 6th fairway were removed don't know why they made the tee off more challenging and trees on 9th were removed due to construction of a house other than those no changes ever happened.

Other Thoughts:

But if 4-5 groups are on the course it could somewhat be frustrating due to poor setup, the course needs to be reconfigured new signage needed but tee pads are concrete that's the only thing that would hinder reconfiguration but possible. We are going to make this park that people will want to come out and throw on,definitely determined to grow this sport at paye creek disc golf park in chewelah wa 😀 😉 👍

Peye Creek DGC Has It’s Own Sign On Lincoln Avenue! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 24, 2020 Played the course:once

There is a small course sign here at the start. The course plays around a clump of trees in a area that can only be described as a vacant lot. The tee pads are small concrete but no-one needs a big run up here. The baskets are Discatchers with the small numbers, which are needed on this course.

The design is kind of bizarre but I think part of that can be attributed to the new construction at the end around Hole # 9. The # 1 tee pad and sign faces one way but the # 1 basket is far right so you're you throwing across the pad. Just beyond the # 1 basket is a tee sign which makes no sense. Backtrack back past the # 1 pad and there's # 2. It plays 152' mostly straight ahead. This starts you playing around the wooded area. # 3 is a little 164' straight shot. Holes 4-8 play back and forth and around this field. The holes are from 106' up to 176'. They are just a series of straight ahead pitch and putts.

# 6 is another hole where the basket has apparently been moved and is now off in a right angle to the pad. # 9 throws 194' past the big hole and pile of dirt where something is being constructed.

The grassy areas on the # 1 and # 2 holes could be really be mowed. It's way tall and dry.

# 1 and # 6 both baskets that have been moved to new locations so you are now throwing across the tee pad.

Pitch and putt distance and challenge.

Other Thoughts:

With some mowing and trimming, this could be a decently fun little pitch and putt. It will never be a destination course but if you live in Chewelah, you are a hike from any other course. It wouldn't take much work to bring this course up to par. Come on, Chewelah, put together a work party and make this course great, uh? decent, again!
