Pros:

Pine Meadows is a nine hole ball golf course on the south side of Eau Claire. In the winter months, usually starting around the beginning of November, they install a nine hole disc golf course. The course is pay to play, so be sure to check into the clubhouse before your round to pay. It was $10 for a season pass when I played it today. Not a bad deal for locals with not too many other great options nearby in the winter.

The baskets are, or at least were today, the front nine baskets from Tower Ridge I. These are older Mach II's I believe. They're definitely showing their age a bit but are still more than serviceable. One pin location and basket per hole. These do stand out nicely with the red number plates on the top as well as the bottom pole and cage being painted red.

The tees are natural. Since it's on a ball golf course these are better than most grass tees. There's two tee areas per hole. These were marked by red/orange fiberglass poles marking the front corners of the tee. These are the ones I played, there was also shorter tees marked with the same poles but painted yellow. About what you'd expect from this type of course honestly.

The flow of the course is pretty simple to follow for the most part. I'd still recommend having a map available to speed things up a bit. At least when there's not much snow on the ground. Starts and ends close to the parking lot.

Cons:

The price of admission is a great deal if you're local. I live 1 1/2 hours away and most likely won't be back again this year. In that case $10 for a round is pretty steep for 9 holes, even 18 holes honestly.

The design was well done, but to be honest this one suffers from the same thing most of these golf courses suffer from. It just kind of feels repetitive after a bit. It was fine for 9 holes but I doubt I would've played from the shorts even if I had the time to do so.

This may have just been for my visit but a couple sets of the long tees were missing the poles showing their location. Not a big deal with the Udisc map, but it'd be mildly annoying without that. Generally the longs were just a bit further back from the shorts, maybe a bit off too one side or the other though. Not a huge deal, but for a P2P it's worth noting.

Other Thoughts:

Decent option for the area in the winter months if anything. Nothing worth going out of your way to play though. It's a good use of the baskets from Towers at least. I will say I'd suggest just showing up and paying in the bar/grill. I would've played this last year but when I called they were taking tee times. They had one available at 7 PM, 2 1/2 hourse after dark lol. I declined that time.

I'll go with a 2 rating, which is a bit generous if anything. This course being rated a 3.75 on here was laughable though, albeit only two reviews. This was in unbelievably good conditions a week into January here. Reasonable at best.

Nice Winter Course in Eau Claire drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 7, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Two tee pads per hole to make it 18 holes.
- Baskets are used from Tower Ridge. Older Discatchers that still do the job!
- Bathrooms, Food, and Drinks at the clubhouse.
- Well maintained course.
- Decent variety of shot selections.
- Utilize the water hazards and bunkers (when not covered with ice and snow) well.

Cons:

- Only open during the winter.
- No Tee Signs, navigation is very straightforward though.
- Not a whole lot of distance required.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a solid winter course. Weekly leagues for CVDGO are usually hosted here or at one of the other winter courses. I put in cons that there isn't a bunch of distance required but that isn't necessarily a bad thing when there is a foot of snow on the ground.

The clubhouse has solid food and drinks and the golfers/customers really enjoy chatting with disc golfers...I think they think we are crazy for playing in the winter. LOL!

Variety of Holes: Most holes have several different lines to get to the basket. A few holes are similar to each other.

Elevation: Mainly flat.

Foliage: Trees were utilized very well throughout the course providing some low ceiling tunnel shots.

Restrooms: Restrooms on site inside the bar.

Upkeep: Course is very well maintained.

Cons:

Tee Signs: No tee signs at all.

Signature Hole: Course doesn't really have a signature hole.

Other Thoughts:

Fairly short beginner friendly course.
