Between the lush summers and the rainy/snowy conditions of spring, fall and winter, conditions can vary wildly. The local club keeps the course looking great all year, including stomping in snowshoe and snow machine trails over the winter. The course can get wet and muddy in the spring and rainy season, so waterproof shoes or rubber boots can come in handy.

Although the Raven's Bowl was traditionally a tone pole (keg) course, Discatcher baskets were installed in the old keg positions in 2021. The kegs were moved, but are still playable for all 20 holes.

The front eleven is the patched remains of the old course layout, starting and ending near the rear parking lot. Holes 1 and 2 play over the horse coral/hockey rink. The course continues through fairly tight woods, and then opens up into a former gravel quarry for holes 7-11. Wind can be swirly and unpredictable, expect a roller coaster on windy days.

The back nine also starts and ends near the parking lot. It is a much more technical and wooded with a somewhat confusing walk between holes 12 and 13. You'll find 13's tee after a short walk past the baseball diamond on the LEFT FEILD side (check the course map). These holes have never looked better, but a wild shot off of the fairway can leave you with little options. For the controlled thrower it's birdie alley, but for the beginner it can be challenging.

The course is on Southeast Alaska State Fair property, but the locals know it as "the fairgrounds". There are multiple restrooms near the parking lot during some summer months, but the one next to the ski shop in Dalton City (the former movie set from the movie "White Fang"), is only one that is unlocked over the winter.

SEAK fair inc. Fairgrounds 296 Fair Dr. Haines, 99827 Alaska
Local Directions:

At the Southeast Alaska State Fairgrounds, just off of the Haines HWY (near the 1 mile marker).

There are two roads that lead to the farigrounds from the Haines Highway and they're both named Fair Drive. They make a loop through the main fairgrounds parking lot. If you are coming from further up the highway (towards Canada), take a sharp right directly across from the "Welcome to Haines" sign onto Fair Drive. You will pass Haines Propane on your right. Follow the dirt road for one city block and turn left.

If you are coming from town on the Haines Highway, turn left on the first gravel road after the school (Fair Drive). At the top of the hill turn right into the large open parking area.

*If you miss either turn, you can make the next one. They are about a city block apart.

Parking for the disc golf course is through the gated fence on the West side of the main gravel parking area. Drive through the gated fence and park near the Raven's arena (either a horse coral or a hockey rink depending on the time of the year).

Hole 1 plays over the arena.
