Pros:
This is a 9 hole course tucked WAYYYY into the back of Rock River Park in Fort Atkinson, WI.
Nice Mach3 baskets, all in very nice good shape and mounted perfectly. Caught well and easy to see.
This place is very well manicured. The fairways are very small (no that you'll need them very often), but well kept. The greens are cut well and easy to distinguish, and a fair size for a landing area. Very aesthetically pleasing, especially in the middle of summer.
Very nice tee signs, with full color and all the information you could possibly want. Between the signs and paths, navigation is a breeze.
A few nice shots here. Hole 1 is a 300' tunnel type shot, with a hyzer finish. Well done. Hole 5 is the other highlight, with a tight line, and a low ceiling.
Cons:
Thee tee pads here are pretty miserable. Boxed in gravel (or loose asphalt...it's tough to tell) that doesn't invite any sort of run up. You can see worn areas next to these where people chose to tee off from the side instead, as did I. If you're not going to do concrete here, just take these out for safety's sake if nothing else.
Most of the course is crazy short. Like 120-180' holes short. Outside the two holes mentioned above, you could/should play this course with a putter and nothing else.
The rough is rough. Tall grass, full of itchy weeds and prickers. It almost takes the beginner factor out for this place, as a small kid is going to become quite unhappy, quite quickly if they have to mill around in the rough.
You'll need to drive all the way to the back of the park to find the course. Not necessarily a con, but a good piece of information. Past the pool, past the football fields, and around some bends.
Other Thoughts:
For the tiny piece of land used, this is a pretty solid design. Great practice for upshots, of to just go ace running. It's beginner friendly, especially if the rough is down (spring, late fall).
Certainly not worth going out of your way for, but if you happen to be in the park and have a couple putters with you, you could do worse.
