Learn the Game or Practice, if Park is Empty 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 24, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good signage that gives accurate hole layout and distance on each hole.

Baskets in good shape. They are an unusual model I have not see before, but they catch well.

Concrete tee pads, though they are very thin, for some reason.

Some interesting pin placements, near or on slopes next to drainage ditch.

The course plays counter-clockwise around the school athletic fields and then around a small park. It is easy to follow, as the next tee is always within site of the basket for the previous hole.

This could be a good place to learn the game, for someone who would use the park when no other users are present. A skilled player traveling with kids could let the kids play on the playground while playing the course, if traveling through.

The course loops around and brings you back close to the start.

Cons:

There is a lot of danger for other park users on this course. Hole 9, for example, uses a swingset and a tree to form the fairway. Others holes play very close to other park equipment. New players who are starting to develop a little distance and don't yet have much control could definitely put kids, houses, and passing cars in danger. One hole throws over a park road.

There are few obstacles included in the design of the holes. Each shot is basically a test of dialing in the distance with whatever shot shape you want to throw.

Other Thoughts:

This course provides disc golf in this town, which is a good thing. I hope many folks are able to learn the game and enjoy it. But this is definitely a case of trouble waiting to happen, with discs flying way too close to other park and school amenities.
