Nine holes (not all playable though), two tees per hole (one would have been ok though) marked with a 4x4 with only the hole # on it. The course features mostly short holes that are dangerously close to water or in an overgrown wooded area. The course is in a scenic nature area with plenty of nice wildlife to look at.

Nobody in my group liked this course. It is more tedious than fun, not layed out very well, and has tremendous disc loss potential.

If you want to bag it, do it soon as the word on the street is that it's going to be pulled. I usually don't have much negativity towards a dg course but this one needs to be pulled or completely remodeled.

When you drive into the driveway of this park , you will have an opportunity to turn right , where the overflow parking is ( in the grass ) and where #1 starts , or you can keep left , winding around the lake and park next to the dog park and start at hole #5 . The course has 9 nice DGA baskets , 2 tee posts per hole for possibly 8 of the holes , and holes 2-4 have the baskets close to the lake .

I am not even going to number the cons , just rant . There are no signs indicating where to park for this course . You see baskets when entering the park , but it looks like you would naturally head towards the dog park to park and play . You will park in the grass , outdoor concert style . Natural tees when I was there . Just throw from somewhere around the little posts . The course is never going to attract anyone other than locals that live within a bike ride , or a newbie that hasn't explored some of the other courses yet . You will notice that many of the holes are straight away and free of obstructions #1 plays kind of away from the water ( wide open ) . #'s 2-4 wrap around the lake , and together with the wind being a factor here ) , is a good recipe for losing your driver , since no skilled players will play here . #5 is a wide open drive next to the road that you might have to wait for cars coming back and forth . #6 is where I start to lose time and gain frustration . You can spot the basket to your left that is wedge on a slight uphill embankment , but the tee posts have been removed ( construction ? ) and if not paying attention to the face page here , you will either have to safari this hole or skip it . Ahh . #7 . There is a tight path down by the woods ( print the map or you will never find it ) where I had all kinds of trouble finding any markers . The fairway is eaten up with overgrowth , a shame , because this was the only interesting hole here , and leads to a basket the is perched on a hill . Unplayable when I was here . #8's tee was across the road , but the tee and the fairway were swallowed up by overgrowth . I played a safari from near the #9 tee , which is a walk towards the entrance to the park and a hyzer drive to the #9 basket .
The only holes you can take seriously here , 1-5 and 9 , are out in the open and the sun and wind can wear you down . I didn't see an accessible bathroom here , nor a bench in sight . Disc Risk : The water will claim a disc from the inexperienced player ( Do Not Go Into The Water Here . Donate your submerged disc to an alligator or snake . Other than that , if you Safari hole 8 and not play #7 , you won't lose anything for the other holes . No elevation here , since 7 is unplayable .

I think a good idea was lost here . This is a 9 hole course , and if 1/3 of the holes here are either unplayable , or you have to use your imagination on them , you have to decide on whether this is really a course at all . Someone has to make a decision here . Either clean the course up , put gravel or cement tees in with at least minimal signage , install tees for #6 , or donate the baskets to a 9 hole course looking to expand to 18 , or a small park looking to make a disc golf course . My Recommendation : Course baggers , grab this and go . Otherwise , Drive on by . If you live close by . Buy a dog and take them to the nice dog park on these grounds , instead .

Hole 7 is extremely difficult and almost unplayable.
Hole 8's tee is hard to find.
No hole length information or distance markers on hole tees.
Holes either cross or are near in-park dirt-roads, so expect to pause for passing cars.

Most of the holes are wide-open, so you only need to contend with a left-hand or right-hand obstacle (water or trees) on 3, 4 (if using the white tee) and 9. This also means there's almost no shade.

Hole 6's original tee location is beyond 'staff only' signs. After disregarding the signs and searching, there was no visible tee marker. The ground/soil in the area is bumpy and torn up, so the tee was likely removed. If you want to play hole 6, my recommendation is to start at the 'staff only' sign furthest from the basket (furthest SW between the two) or at the end of the clearing on the 'staff only' stub road (closest you can be to original tee location according to the course map).

Hole 7 does go into the woods, and it follows a tight path to a limestone outcropping where the basket is. It's practically unplayable unless you're a perfect shot. When walking from the tee, head slightly left of the 'hole' in the trees you play through. There's a path opening there that hooks back into the 'fairway'. Otherwise you're climbing over a downed wire fence.

After completion of hole 7, the best way to get to hole 8 is to head out of the woods by backtracking hole 7, walking to the basket for hole 8, and then heading back into the woods along a fairly wide dirt path. Following the dotted line on the course map will send you over a nearby muddy creek and further through the woods.

The tee for hole 8 is best found by first walking down the path until you reach a cross-roads between two paths, then turning back to the basket. The tee will be on the right-hand side (NE corner of the 'intersection').

(1.618 Rating) A mildly challenging layout that's being partial reclaimed by nature.
- CHALLENGING - The back tees at Shane Kelly Park are moderately challenging with one hole at 450 feet and several over 300 feet. There are also a few shot shaping holes at (7 and 8) that can be fun short technical plays. I figure an intermediate player will typically finish around even here. The front tees should be challenging enough for rec players.
- SKILL LEVEL FRIENDLY - Considering the middle of the road difficulty from the back tees and the second set of shorter tees, Shane Kelly Park should cater well to all players at the lower advanced skill level thru rec level.
- NAVIGATION - Not too bad with a map. The big issue will be the overgrowth swallowing up holes. See cons maintenance.
- QUICK PLAY - With the holes for the most part being stacked one after another, you can figure a very quick round here. I estimate 45 minutes for a group of four to complete a round here. Basket (9) and tee (1) aren't too far away
- RAW/NATURAL BEAUTY - About average or slightly below, but for courses I've rated this low its above average. Several looks at a nature preserve. However, you can tell the preserve is terra-formed due to the circular shape.
- CHAINS - The powder coated baskets look awesome and are in great shape.

As of this review, a couple of big issues with Shane Kelly Park.
- MAINTENANCE - During my July 2017 two holes were unplayable. Hole (6) tee had been swallowed up by overgrowth and was not locatable. Hole (7) fairway was completely overgrown leaving no unimpeded line to the basket. Which is sad since I feel that hole (7) should be the best hole along the layout. The basket for (7) sits on top of an 8 foot high limestone outcrop.
- WATER HAZARDS - Being that the course is aimed for skill levels intermediate or less, there is higher than optimal disc loss risk here. Holes (2-4) all play with water along the right side. The baskets on these holes are located about 30 feet from the shoreline and grip locking one into this area is an unforgiving error.
- TEES - They are carpet. Several of the pads are already torn apart. The tees are marked by numbered posts along the side of the pad. A few of the surfaces below the pads are in pretty rough shape as well. Needless to say, the tees areas are far below average for the footing you'll need. I tee'd to the side on a couple occasions.
- CHARACTER - In addition to sub-par tees, there are not really any other extra items for this course. No seating, no community board, no practice basket, no extra pin placements, etc. There are however nice baskets - see pros, and there are public restrooms not too far away.
- UNIQUENESS - The holes themselves are lacking the uniqueness that you'd see on your average 18 hole course. Several holes don't have a tree in play. There aren't any doglegs. Only hole (9) is a bender. There are two blind baskets (7 and 9). There are only a couple windows to hit, and a few holes are guarded by trees. There is water in play on several shots however which adds a nice gut check into the thought process.
- ELEVATION - Other than basket (7) being perched on an outcrop, zilch.
- WIND - It will be a major factor on (1-5) with very few trees nearby.
- OVERFLOW PARKING - I saw a sign stating that part of the course is overflow parking. I'm not sure what for but it's very likely that a major event at the park could make several holes unplayable.

It is what it is. Shane Kelly Park is a course that can be serviced for those that live within 5 to 10 miles. Having played all the Orlando area courses as of this review, and can recommend these multi-course parks if you are looking for the best in the area; Bill Frederick Park and River City Nature Park.

One of the worst courses you will ever play. If you are in Oviedo and can't get anywhere else, then I guess this is it. It's better than nothing.

Close to Orlando. Great 6, 7, 8 and 9 hole. A nice pond to make you wince a little. Don't know why people knock this course, as it is free. Say it again. It is free! I don't know what is up with people knocking a course where they pay nothing for it. Something would be awesome just to put a catcher in your backyard. Come on, you Americans. Get a grip.

Not much except for if they use it for overflow parking, but again people, it is free. Stop your whining.

The first 2 holes are in an overflow parking lot. There was a soccer tournament there that day so 1 and 2 were unplayable.
Water comes into play on several holes and will wreak havoc on all level of players. There were rugs for tee pads. And no tee signs to mention distance.

I almost always enjoy s new course even if it isn't that great.

New DGA Mach III baskets, Easy to follow layout, Unique elevated Tee Box on Hole 6, Mixture of open and wooded holes.

Only 9 holes (hopefully this will change!), Tee Boxes are currently carpet, no signage except wooden hole stakes..

I am very excited to finally have a Disc Golf Course in my town. Course is still very new but very playable and laid out well around a small pond. Note: Course is accessible through main entrance of Shane Kelly Park Monday - Saturday, all the way at the end of the parking lot near a small building. On Sunday, for whatever reason, gate to access course is locked from Shane Kelly main parking lot. To access on Sunday you need to drive out of the park, turn right, stay on Geneva Road for about 200 yard, turn right on Lockwood Blvd, and turn into a small gravel lot about 1/2 a mile down Lockwood on the right. There is no sign, but a black chain link fence with a small and large gate (locked). Park here and enter through the small gate, walk along the gravel road to the left and you will hit hole 9 after about 300 yards.

Open but technical for the first few holes. Small pond playing mind tricks the first half.

Unable to find white tee box for hole 6 and 9. Might be because we are new at this.

We Got locked inside the park!!!! Parks website says it closes at 6 on Saturdays. We were in the car leaving at 5:07 to find the locked gate. The park ranger that let us out an hour later cliamed the park closed at 3 (we got there at 3:30) Would be cool of whoever updates this information could add in actual park hours. (there are not any signs in the park)

A ton of potential. I'm considering this course as if the current nine holes are finished with appropriate navigation but no additional holes are put in, although if the next nine feature terrain similar to that of the current wooded holes, this could be a really good one.
The first five holes are totally open, playing in the area around a small pond. The first few circle the water hazard clockwise with one hole offering a quality carry from the long pad. And a dry route from the short pad. For a nine-hole course, this is too much in the way of open holes but the planned nine will make for a nicely balanced layout with chances to air out drives in the beginning and technical fairways after that.
Currently, 7 and 8 are the standout holes. 7 is a fairly short dagger shot cut through the woods with quick elevated segments and the basket on a small rise. 8 plays from the woods into the open with the basket sheltered by the overhanging branch of a large tree.

Tees are marked by numbered posts. With the holes in now, tee signs aren't really needed as baskets are visible. It might be advisable to wait a bit if you are an inexperienced player. Still a work in progress and new players may struggle to figure out the layout.
