Throwing Frisbees on Campus 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 22, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Level, yellow-banded baskets caught well. Tees are marked with a post showing hole number and distance. Mild elevation changes on a few holes. Course is located on a pleasant small-college campus with well-mown grass.

Arrows on the basket direct you to the next hole where needed. A few tees use paved walking paths or a gravel road (but see cons).

The first three holes were moderately enjoyable. Hole 1 is a controlled 257' throw with the basket nestled between a shed and a fence. Hole 2 is a fun little putter hyzer with the basket guarded by two mature trees. And hole 3 features a generous but low-ceiling gap across a small stream before the fairway doglegs right.

Pretty basket settings feature on a couple of holes. One basket was on a rocky mound, and another was on a grassy knoll under a big shade tree.

Cons:

The last six holes are mostly wide-open, offering few obstacles and little shade on a hot summer day. A few of these holes have one or two trees or power line poles to avoid from the tee.

Not much variation in hole length (seven of nine holes are between 240' and 300'). Not much variation in elevation, either. Most of the course is pretty flat.

Walking paths, athletic fields, and student activities share the fairway on many holes. You may have to wait for pedestrians and work around non-disc golf activities while playing the course.

Natural (grass) tees on many holes.

Other Thoughts:

This is not a particularly interesting or enjoyable course, offering little technical challenge or risk-reward decision-making. Unless you are a student here, there is not much reason to play this course other than bagging.

No hole diagram on tee signs, but other than hole 3 all baskets are visible from the tee.

Campus sticker needed for parking, but you can easily park at nearby Papa Jack's DGC and take the short walk to the Shippensburg campus.
