The Barn B&B has a links style 9 hole course that is very well manicured. The layout is easy to follow, as the fairways are mowed out of tall grass, providing a very obvious path. Slight elevation changes on a couple of holes, with very few trees.

Tees are level grass with plenty of room. The baskets are pretty nice, and have red numbered flags flying on top. The holes are all par 3, some in birdie range and some longer. The rough is very tall, and can easily hide a disc that leaves the fairway. Keeping it in the landing zone can be made more difficult if the wind is active, as it often is in Kansas.

Hole 1 tee is to the right of the garden as you are approaching (I think), across a large field to a basket that is well protected by a line of young trees and bushy stands of grass. After hole one, you enter the links, and it stays like that until you get the the tee for hole 9. Heavy rough lining both sides of each hole. If you can't steer to the clear, keep a close watch where it comes down.

I won't give the hole by hole description. Some variance with a couple of doglegs, a little elevation change, and very sparse trees. There is little to stop you from throwing any way you like, aside from the wind. Hyzer, anhyzer, thumber. Options are nearly unlimited over the wide open spaces.

The tees are not well marked, but fairly obvious once you get past hole 1. I did see a chunk of rock on each hole except 9. Concrete boxes and/or tee signs would be a nice upgrade.

The bed and breakfast did have a good size crowd the weekend I played there, and a couple was going for a walk on the course just in front of me on my first round. They kept a decent pace, and were not really in the way.

There is not very much to restrict flight lines, and if the wind is calm this is a fairly easy course. Unless you add penalty shots for landing in the rough, par is not hard as long as you don't lose the disc.

The Barn B&B is private property, and I called to ask permission before showing up to play. Staff is friendly, and charges nothing to play.

The course is short and sweet, and it is maintained beautifully. Not incredibly difficult, but has a few really nice holes. I liked hole 1 a lot, longish and with a well protected target. 5 is a good birdie chance, a short dogleg right that has a small tree near the pin. You can fly it over the tall grass all the way with a good RHBH hyzer. 6 is fun, a longer drive that is downhill enough to get a little extra distance, flying over the tall stuff most of the way again. Made birdie on both rounds here. 7 is a cool hole that is straight and pretty long. The fairway has two rows of berms dividing it most of the distance, and clusters of grass in front of the basket.

A very nice little course you might want to check out if you should happen to be nearby. The B&B looked nice also. Very relaxing by all appearances.
