Well Designed Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 10, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well designed course that makes the most of a park on the smaller side.

Has the feel of a nice woods or hiking course without being too strenuous for players that may have trouble with some of the longer courses with elevation.

Not much going on at the park when we played through and only a few other groups out.

Well designed course that I feel had a variety of different shots and some cool elevation to play with.

Manageable distances for my skill level, however I can see a big armed player thinking it was too short.

The shorter holes almost always have a very low ceiling or a mando that somewhat forces a tight line.

I like that the holes suggest an ability to cause some good scoring variation. Many are very deuce able but 4 or even 5 is also possible with a bad line.

Certainly a few holes types that are not really found elsewhere in the area.

Each tee had a boxed in turf pad that performed well enough for the distances required.

New baskets - I don't like the prodigy baskets much myself but having a target in great shape is always a plus.

Lots of shade on a hot day.

Cons:

Certainly some overgrowth which is to be expected in a fresh course. I don;t see that getting a ton better even with more players as it is outside the main lines, main fairways are ok. Keep an eye on what you throw and use a bright color if possible.

Only a throw or two that will really test a big armed players distance.

One particularly short hole that is a fun ace run but still feels like a short approach or long putt more than an entire hole. (I don't think they had a lot of options to do more with it so not a knock on design but still a con)

Bugs were pretty bad but not overwhelming

I'm sure they are still working on it but hole numbers by the tees would be helpful, they are on the baskets but nothing at the tees as of this review.

Other Thoughts:

If this was a little closer to my house it would probably be my go to course for when I don't have a ton of time to play.

Certainly a nice addition to the area.
