Best Course In the Area That You Haven't Played 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

The variety of holes is what stands out to me as its biggest plus, it felt like the course was designed to keep things fresh with different looks after every few holes. You start out open, go to some short technical woods holes, elevation shots, back to open, then back to woods. The course definitely makes good use of the terrain and keeps things enjoyable.

The condition of the course on the day we played was very good. Grass was mowed, no trash in sight, & no park goers or other players until we finished our round & saw a few people at the one playground. It was almost surreal to see such a well maintained park, not crowded with people on a Sat morning, but being out of the way has its benefits.

Some fun holes that you won't find too many other places, 15 was a downhill shot with the basket tucked below the hill that had each of us reaching for a second disc to take another shot.

Good use of elevation with uphill, downhill, and mixed terrain shots. Wooded holes are doable and not too technical but just challenging enough to be fun. Not overly punishing rough and the creek or creeks that wind through the course is usually easy to stay away from.

Cons:

The biggest con for me was the tee pads which are listed as gravel sand & that seems like an accurate description. The day we played they hadn't been raked in a while so there was a divot/hole where most people had planted their foot to throw. If the pads were all concrete with a little more length, the experience would be more enjoyable.

The park does have restrooms available in a few spots but benches on the course were non existent. Not a major issue for us, but its nice to have that option especially if you have a decent size group or just want to keep your bag out of the wet grass.

Hole 14 plays across the corner of a parking lot & over a road, which might be an issue if there were sports being played at one of the fields but on the day we were there the lot was completely empty.

Other Thoughts:

Having only played the current layout with 18 holes I can only pass on what I've been told, that the course was redesigned to add the other 9 holes and change a few things up for the better.

Honestly don't know why this course doesn't get more looks as it is well done, well maintained, and within a short drive to Sandy Creek so you could make a trip & hit both courses on one day. We'll definitely be back to do just that, once things cool off a bit.
