Is, in Fact, Good to Run Through 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

A barely floating course with enjoyable short holes.

-Chains: Solid DD baskets. Complemented by wooden tee posts that are present on a majority of holes.

-Variety: Not all wide open holes. In fact, the mix between open and moderately wooded is pretty good.

-Flow: The layout makes sense, other than the awkward walk from (2)-(3) over (9)'s fairway. It also leaves you close to where you start.

-Shot Shaping/Gameplay: Enjoyable for a course all under 280'. The first couple deal with some trees, before venturing out into the open with marginal interference. The last two are the most interesting shots, one a hard right onto a wooded plateau, the other a gentle turnover going downhill. The lines are sensible, which is the only thing that saves this course some credibility (other than the good chains).

-Maintenance: The grass is trimmed and the fairways are clear. Considering how abandoned the rest of this recreation area looks, that's mighty impressive.

Cons:

As with most courses at this rating, more issues than victories.

-Tees: None, and often lacking tee posts. Consistent signage would make me feel a lot better about this course.

-Scope: As noted, all short holes. This won't test your game really, although the holes with foliage are well-designed and won't be gimmes either.

-Gully: A disc retrieval issue. It's mostly only a big risk on (8)-(9), but if you do overshoot one of those like me, you'll be doing some intricate and ill-advised climbing to get them back. As my partner said, "Make sure you can get back up where you go down."

-Parking: Where, exactly? I pulled onto the grass to the side of the circular drive housing (1)-(2), which seemed fine.

-Exposure: With a lack of tall trees and a river on site, this course is perfect for a sun and bugs combo. Sweltering in August.

Other Thoughts:

I think this course is aptly named. It's less of a course than a quick run of holes in otherwise-abandoned space. The addition of tee signs would improve it dramatically for that purpose. Nonetheless, it's fun to rack up the birdies on competently designed holes, and overall it makes it to a Passable rating.
