A Unique Course 2+ years

Pros:
-A heavily wooded "new" course as of August 2021 with a few open holes, a few elevated tees shot and up-hill tee throw's, also some upslope and downslope holes. A creek comes into play on a few holes, along with an inactive railroad track on one hole. The course meanders on the back property of a tree service company.
-Hole 17 is unique, from tee to within C2 is O.B.
-Tee boxes are turf, outstanding shape considering their brand new.
-Chainstar Pro Baskets are outstanding!! They flat out stick!! My first time playing them, and currently on the DGCR data base only 24 courses have them listed. The only other course in Virginia that has them is New London Tech designed by Paul McBeth. Now my favorite basket!
-Tee signs are first class and in my top 5. Outstanding map graphics of obstacles with coloring. Have hole number, par, and distance. Also a few tidbits of plant or tree information with a bar code for further information.
-Unique basket placements include a hanging basket on a wooden platform at the end of a railroad track, a traditional hanging basket, and a basket on top of a concrete pillar.
-On holes 11 and 12 to avoid getting wet crossing the creek, there is a zip line with a seat to use and an open back for your bag, fun!
-The course offers membership which includes a clubhouse that's shared with tree service workers. Included is a lounge, game room, fridge, microwave, and bathroom. Guests are allowed to use the bathroom.
-Course is likely to be taken care of by the property employees. They were working on trails while I played.
-A month later the course is memorable with enough settled differences in the heavily wooded portion.
-From the tee threw mids, fairways, and drivers.
-Beginners and Recreational players will find the course challenging, but fun with the uniqueness. Intermediate and Advance will likely find some holes challenging with a fun factor.

Cons:
-A lot of debris on fairways from hole shaping making sure to pay attention to walking. Tripping hazards with roots and large branches remaining. Likely to be cleaned up.
-Very likely the holes around the creek area are swampy after a rain. Some soft mud here and there, but employees were laying down pallets to help keep it dry on walking trails, not much of a help though on the majority of those fairways. I would stay away for at least a few days after any sustained rain.
-Course very short for those who like to be challenged with length. Half of the holes are less than 230 feet and 5 of those less than 200 feet. Not easy to get after the basket with tight lines and obstacles, but very manageable to pick up birdies.
-Hole 1 walking away from the tee pad to the fairway is a straight downhill drop with the help of a knotted rope. Not idea for players who struggle staying upright on steep hills. Can take a longer route to reach fairway. Hole 2 is straight back up the same hill using tires as steps to get up and a leg burner. From 4 basket to 5 tee is down slope and slick on soft ground. Then theirs the zip lines, either use them or get wet.
-Lost disc potential high with the heavy woods and brush especially off 1 and 2. If you don't mind getting your feet wet, a disc should be easy enough to pull out of the creek.

Other Thoughts:
True Timber is a unique course with the basket placements, railroad fairway, an O.B. fairway, creek play, and those zip lines offering a unique way to cross the creek. Just narrow enough to keep your attention in the woods, but not punishing. It seemed that I should favor the course, but something seemed to be missing. It would be nice if the distance had been stretched out, or the debris had finished being picked up from fairway carving, perhaps later. The staff will take care of the course, no doubt about it. Within a week of the course opening heavy rains came and the course was closed for about a week to dry up. The course does have a high fun value. I look forward to coming back to play next year, and maybe see some cleared fairways for a more enjoyable walking experience and a different look.
My overall rating is anchored on a 4.5 basked on the uniqueness of the course, not sure if I'll ever see the combination of True Timber anywhere else, and some good disc golf. Total time to play taking pictures was 70 minutes.
Notable Holes:
No. 1 Par 3 at 285 feet is an elevated tee shot of about 20 feet straight away to the basket. From the tee is a gap of about 15 and 50 feet out. Limbs and branches sticking out, heavy trees and brush to the left. Basket is in the open with some brush dumped to the right. Seems easy enough and a fun throw. I hit the tree to the left into the brush, played a provisional that went further out into the brush. Found the primary, lost the provisional.
No. 4 Par 3 at 217 feet the "railroad track" hole is a level gentle dogleg right bending all the way from tee to basket you're following the railroad track. Heavy tree both sides all the way down with skinny's leaning over the track. Steep embankment on the left side of track disc could slide down. Basket sits mounted on a wooden platform hanging. After hitting a skinny that embankment to the left by the basket was intimating. Tossed a putter up but watched the disc slide about 10 feet down the embankment.
No. 7 Par 3 at 185 feet is straightaway to the basket thru heavy trees with small gaps at least 10 feet. Heavy man-made debris in front of you at about 50 feet, 90 feet down is a large tree that has fallen with the roots pointing at you. The tree blocks your view past it, except the top portion of basket. What you don't see is the creek that crosses behind tree within C2. Very scenic hole, I hope they keep the large tree on the fairway.
No. 17 Par 3 at 195 feet is down hill to a basket that you can't see your being blocked by a pile of logs about 50 feet out. Heavy trees, but there are gaps or better yet up in the canopy very leafy. From tee to basket all O.B. The basket sits in a circle of about 45 feet outlined by logs and the ground covered by woodchips, the green slopes downward. The DZ is about 70 feet downhill, very scenic look as I saw when I took my penalty.
Signature Hole:
No 11. Par 3 at 277 feet from an open tee slope downward. Hit the tree line at about the halfway mark with two gaps to find C1 and heavy canopy making it dark and unable to see. The basket is tucked in behind heavy trees to the right, and more trees on the right prior if you find yourself there. What you also don't see is the creek passing across fairway outside C1 and an embankment behind basket. You get to use a zip line to cross into C2, and to find your way to #12 tee a second zip line or get wet. Very scenic hole as you pass thru the darkness.
Trouble Hole:
No. 2 Par 3 at 288 feet there's a steep elevated hill about 70 feet in front of with trees and heavy brush to the left and right. The elevation is about 25 feet but you're climbing on top of tires for at least 100 feet which I'm pretty sure is not included in the distance. From the tee a gap of about 20 feet at the hill climb. If you make the top of the hill to the level fairway it doglegs right with moderate coverage of trees, and the basket protected. I didn't get my disc high enough with a late release on the left (lefty) about ¾ of the way up hill. The tires are awkward to walk on and crossing across the hill is treacherous with a lot of slipping. Lost disc potential is high, had to also look for my disc which I found. Placing a knee on the hill to keep from slipping I was happy to just flip my disc up to the fairway.
