Get the Kids Started 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 2, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Decent Baskets
-6 Holes around an elementary school
-Surprising elevation for the small area

Cons:

-No defined tees
-No signage
-Limited hours
-A playground in play on #1
-A soccer/baseball area in play on #4 and #5
-Fenced in water area way right on #1 and #2

Other Thoughts:

Walnut Hills Elementary has 6 baskets around the building in the very western part of Urbandale, IA. Technically part of the Waukee school district, the nice white banded DisCatchers start on the south side of the building and wrap around to the north side, clockwise. A good set of baskets to get the kids started in the obsession that is disc golf. You can tee off from the walking path for #1 through #4. A surprising amount of elevation in this area adds some interest. There is also a small pond way left on #1 and #2. This is fenced off and would be tricky to retrieve a waterlogged disc. The elevation and 6 baskets give it a passable for me. Add some defined tee boxes with concrete and some signage to make it more of a course. The limited hours are also a detraction. If open, you could use this as a warm up to the Waterford course just a short way to the north, or to make a full 18 holes (as Waterford is 12). I probably won't play here again.
