It's fun to play disc golf in Central America 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Disc Golf in Panama.... That deserves a "Very Good".

This was a fun little course. It costs $2 to go to the hostel and use all the facilities, inluding the disc golf course. The holes are all very short with the exception of hole 9. It's about 330. The rest are under 250. It's kind of like playing safari golf. The course is situated in a cramped space so there are crossing fairways and shared "baskets".

Speaking of baskets. This course is a tone pole object course. All of the tone poles are made from timed out scuba tanks that have the bottoms cut off. When you hit the tank there is a great "Bong" that is easily discernable. It was loud enough that people who were at the pool came out to the course to find out what we were doing. The really nice thing about the scuba tank tone pole is that it has almost the exact same sweet spot as a basket so it makes for a very good substitute.

There is a little bit of elevation change on the course but not much. The foothills of the mountains are very close so you can be lost in the jungle quickly if you take off in the car from here.

The owners of the course are super nice guys. If you ever do get down to Panama and play this course, find them and have them show you around. They're nice guys and they can point out the finer details of the course... like reminding you to stay out of the scorpion and snake pile. I'm not sure if there's actually scorpions and snakes in there but even if there isn't.... you don't want to go in there. It was nasty schule.

The other great pro is that it is introducing the sport to people who have definitely never seen it.

Cons:

It's very short. There's not a lot of room at the hostel for the course but it's fun none the less.

Other Thoughts:

It's a must do if you ever get to David, Panama. I was lucky enough to be working there one day this week. I grabbed my coworker (a fanatic Ultimate player and DGCR member here as well) and we played a quick round before having to fly out to work in Changuinola. Good times!!!
