Pros:
I see them at almost every course now. They're the 15-19 year olds usually playing in a group. They are usually carrying one or maybe two discs. What they mostly have in common is the propensity to fire up wild, uncontrolled forehand throws. The harder they throw, the wilder they get. Sometimes their drives will land in a different county. Well teens, someone in Iowa City has designed a course just for you! Wetherby Park DGC is wide open, like an old man's zipper. It would be pretty difficult to lose a disc in the spacious park that is Wetherby.
The course has nice sized concrete tee pads. The signs are simple blocks set in the ground which is actually a good, cheap way to place signage. The baskets are Mach II models.
My favorite hole was the only one with any obstacles, # 8. It's just a simple 220' hyser throw around the garden but the basket is seriously guarded by a huge Cheery tree with thick, thick branches.
Cons:
Too wide open for everyone's taste.
Wide open terrain will be windy.
Really lacks creativity and challenge.
Other Thoughts:
If you are a scattered armed teenager, this is your wet dream! Fire away! Not hunting for discs in the tall grass and bushes and trees. No more losing discs. This might be your Field of Dreams. Maybe Kevin Costner will join you for a round.
Other than us course baggers, I don't see many normal type players frequenting this course on any kind of regular basis.
