Quick Update From a Local 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Plans are underway to update the facilities out there. Right now there is a Port-o-John in the parking lot and more permanent structures are on the way. All the broken or stolen baskets have been replaced, and some of the deadfall has been cleaned up from the wooded areas. Also, in the past the course wasn't mowed regularly but they keep the grass pretty low now.

Cons:

Even though some of the baskets have been replaced, most of them are still in rough conditions. I think Hole #2's basket sits about two feet off the ground. Most of the baskets still have the six-inch chastity belts that are vexing for long putts. Some of the tee boxes are still a little off as well.

Other Thoughts:

Woodway cops are probably worse than anything you've heard about them, but that doesn't stop a lot of players from bringing along a six pack. The cops really just care about speeders, so be careful on the way in and out. There isn't a lot of shade and only one water fountain so be sure to plan accordingly. The entire OB area opposite the lake is ringed with Poison Ivy- keep that in mind when looking for stray discs. And look out for the children on the playground. The last time I was out there I lost my driver in the wind and nearly killed one.

Great little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 14, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great location using elevation, OB, tunnels, and wind. This is a great course to work on your shots as most holes allow a wide variety of shots.
Well designed to use the multiple parking locations. Easy to start at 6+ holes. Park at the main parking and you will pass your car twice before you reach 13.

Big map at top of hill by hole 1. Open and beginner friendly, hole 7 and 17 two tee's.

Cons:

Single chain baskets that are showing their age. Replacements for stolen or damaged baskets have been DB-5's.
Some tee pads are no longer level.
The wind can be brutal. If its windy in town it will be worse at this course.
No stores close, you are at the dead end of a long residential road.

Other Thoughts:

Wooday is a small suburb of Waco. That being said they have their own small town police force, dont speed or do anything stupid and its all gravy.

This is one of my local courses.
New baskets, longer level tee pads, and signage would easily make this a 3.5.
Add that and change a couple of holes and/or add a few to the current setup and this course has everything needed to be a 4.

Woodway 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 17, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The wind coming off the lake adds to the difficulty of an otherwise straightforward course. A few of the holes are placed nicely inside wooded areas. A very quick-playing course if you're in a hurry.

Cons:

Feels a little compact for 18(17, actually) holes. If you park in the lot near the lake, you can see about half of the baskets while just standing at your car. The scenery from hole to hole leaves much to be desired.

Other Thoughts:

Talking to a local, the basket for hole #4 was stolen a while back and has yet to be replaced. Seems like a nice enough course if you happen to live in a nearby neighborhood.
