Sporty little course, beautiful setting

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 12, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Beautiful land on a small hilltop overlooking Lake Waco
Great variety of holes, mostly wooded with a few open
Course layout takes advantage of elevation changes very well
Holes spaced nice distance apart so flow is very quick & easy
Nice course map at hole #1 tee
Concrete tee pads, hole signs with hole number & length
New restroom building near entrance gate
City park that is well maintained

Cons:

Course is 25 years old now, showing its age a little
Good players with a big arm might think course is too short, only a few holes that you can really 'let one fly'

Other Thoughts:

Course is actually located in Lakeside Park (not Woodway Park), it's the last right turn off the long entry road (called Estates Dr)
**Not sure if it can be officially changed but to be accurate the course name should be Lakeside Park located in Woodway TX.

Wicked course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 11, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beautiful! Many signature holes and a couple of ace runs. the front nine has lots of shade.

Cons:

Lay out is a little confusing, but if you have a map you'll be aight.

Other Thoughts:

All around this is an amazing course, it defiantly doesn't have the rating it deserves. If your passing through Waco to play Circle C Metro in Austin, defiantly make a pit stop for this one!

Pros:

Very quiet, not many people go here. Very little traffic on course. Well maintained. Variety of shots.

Cons:

little elevation changes. Wind from lake can be strong.

Other Thoughts:

My favorite course so far mostly because it is well layed out, has good tees and baskets, and very few people.

What Goes UP, must… 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 10, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course has lots of elevation. They have well placed tees and baskets. It has protected pins, accuracy shots, ace runs, hole length variation, great use of land and wooded surroundings. This course sits next to a lake that puts water in play on a couple of holes without too much disc loss potential. This is a multi-use park, but most of the disc golf is played away from the other park users. It has good cement tee pads, great baskets and tee signs on all the holes. There is a great map/message board by the first hole, however navigation is pretty easy anyway. Some of the shots using the up and down elevation-designed holes is really a treat. This course is set next to the beautiful Lake Waco and it is very clean. Unlike many places we play disc golf across the country, this course does allow you to bring the alcohol along.

Cons:

The playground is a little close off the tee on one hole, but after that you are fairly people free. You still need to walk up ahead and check for people on the blind up-hill shots. This course really needs more trashcans as I only remember seeing a few. The park really needs a restroom, as there are no public restrooms close by.

Other Thoughts:

The fun factor on this course was pretty high. Usually a course with lots of shorter holes does not thrill me too much. But Woodway has the accuracy and difficulty built in on these holes that it is a real treat to play. There are some great skip it in holes for aces. The elevation is so well designed; every hole here was fun for me. This is well worth playing if you are in town. Now, if you are planning a road trip to Waco, you really should just plan on hitting all 3 courses as they are all worth the drive.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 2, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is set on a big hill overlooking Lake Waco.

It has a major fun factor due to almost every hole being down hill. The designer did an excellent job of maximizing the elevation changes.

It has concrete teepads and signs on every hole.

There is a large map at hole #1 for you to see the flow of the course.

There is road around the park with parking spaces at different holes. You can park at any basket and play from there and finish there for a staggered start if it's busy.

There is a picnic area and playscape right in the middle of the course and the flow of the course comes back to the middle three times which is pretty cool. It would be a great place for a family reunion or DG party or tournament.

Cons:

One hole has you throwing towards a playscape but the distance is such that most discs will fade before they get there.

Some areas of the course are very open with no shade which could be brutal in the summer.

Other Thoughts:

I wish I had tried this course sooner but did not because of all the three disc ratings it got. Trust me, this course is excellent.
