[Innova] All Things FIREBIRD

I am thinking of picking up a FB to go with my 167g champ banshee. I use my banshee for utility shots and I imagine that as it wears I may want something that I'll treat less harshly and use for headwinds and big skips.

I want to go with a weight somewhere between 171 and 174 and am trying to decide what plastic to check out. I don't need it to be stupid overstable for utility, I just want something stable into a headwind with a big skip at the end when thrown with the right angle.

What plasitc should I check out - star or champ? Thanks.

Star is fine or champ with a little dome. The flat 12x is insanely overstable. I sold mine and rebagged my star 170.

Backhand into the wind a Star is plenty stable for most situations. 30+ mph or if you throw 500+ then you may need a Flatter Champ. I throw my Star 172 and it's all I need for BH drives. 400 max thrower.

Oh yeah that should do it then. I may have to check out a star.

G* is significantly less over stable than the champ FB's. I carry a stupid over stable glo champ and compliment it with a G*.

i still don't understand why anyone would want a floppy firebird, it's perplexing.

The softer G* plastic is great for soft landings. I use mine for hyzer shots that need to sit down quickly near a precarious basket placement or for overhand shots. I'm finding some use from these soft plastic blends for controlled roller shots as well...

Picked up a 12x PFN star 172g today. Reasonable dome, domier than my last champ firebird, not noticabley so or pop topped. Excited to throw some forehands with it!

The 171g pfn star I have fits in nicely between my gstar TB and my 175g champ FB.
