[Innova] Eagle Enthusiasm

My DX eagle is getting too beat and it's losing most of its stability. Probably flies similar to an FD now. I need a premium plastic eagle but it's a bitch finding good ones that aren't super overstable or domey.

Maybe a gstar eagle l .....if only they would mold them in pro again

When you guys say "flat" how "flat" are you talking here?

I've thrown Eagles for over 10 years and never prioritized "flat". I look for a nice, even dome (not pop top) without that damn "ledge" between the flightplate and wing. And they have always been great flyers. Stability you can trust, great glide. Pretty much dead-nuts right on the -1, 3 flight numbers.

Anything with that "ledge" is an overstable, glideless turd that I would consider a "bad" eagle.

Anything with a nice seamless wing/flightplate transition with an even dome (whether domey or more on the flatter side) have flown pretty much identical.

The CE I have had the ledge and it's freakin sweet! L mold and very overstable.

Got my swirly Star Barsby in the mail today. As expected, it is quite OS. The plastic is nice though, softer and trippier than the Nybo teebirds I have seen. If I throw it max power it looks like it wants to try and turn, but doesn't quite. I bet it beats in to be real nice though. I imagine it will get to that fresh eagle -.5/-1 turn, pop up from slight hyzer then fade smooth and forward flight, then stay there for quite a while. Excited to beat on this thing a while.

The same flat you are talking about. Flat topped eagles are garbage, just like domey ones are. They need that mild dome to be good to me.

I love my slightly domed glow eagle-x. Its workable for those 300' lines and glides lazer straight when I power it up to 360' on less than 10' lower lines or flip up sweeping hyzers.

I also bag a flat topped CE Eagle-x that handles the same lines into 10-15 mph headwinds, very useful where my champ thunderbird fades too much. It's not garbage at all, superior grip and the flat top makes it so much easier to hit my release angles, especially for forehand.

Is this an eagle-l? I'm 90% sure it is but just wanted to double check. It's an eleven time and it's penned with just an E

Flat topped Eagles are not garbage, they are a headwind disc for those who did not like a Banshee wing and did not want a Teebird or Firebird/Thunderbird I am talking for the Champion, Star the Flat top gets so OS an Eagle is more OS then Banshee. Mild to low dome is best for throwing an Eagle in any plastic to keep it true to the numbers.

Couldn't help myself and scored a 10x KC pro thrower. It is board flat. Flattest eagle I have seen. This thing flies like a wad of straight cash money!

Make eagles this good again innova!! What is the problem!! Make good, flat eagles! I like the newer champ plastic, I like the newer star plastic, I just want a flatter eagle so I don't have to hunt down good ones! Make the 2020 Barsby eagles (if they do them again) flatter.

Rant over.

Sounds like you want an Eagle3.

I hope Innova is listening and responds favorably to you.

Really a flat eagle is great, and a mild dome is great. Some lately I have seen in stores are pop top. That's no good. Flat is a little faster and less glide, great for pin pointing a drive. Little dome can get some sneaky distance and tend to flex a bit more in my experience.

Eagle3 would be sweet and I would try it out for sure.

A DX Eagle was the first golf disc I ever got (2003?) & wouldn't mind revisiting. Are Star/Champion Eagles consistent or all over the place? Even for Innova standards? It's not nearly as popular as the Teebird it seems.

I've seen some Barsby Eagles online but wtf with those colors? Why?

The Champions are ALL over the place. Most of the current clear ones are overstable, the slightly older opaque ones are very overstable, the ones before them were neutral but extra domey, and if you're ordering blind you could get any one of them because there is always a lot of lingering old stock with Eagles. Those are just the runs that I've personally thrown, there may be more. I have no experience with Stars.

I had the same thought a few months back, I was a big Eagle thrower back in the early 2000's. Back then they were all fairly flat and it seems that nowadays they are significantly more domey. I had a hard time finding anything that feels remotely like my old ones.

For the love of god Innova give us the Eagle3!

I assume when y'all are talking about an Eagle3 it's built with the X wing, but imagine an EagleL3. In opaque, grippy champ. Basically cloning the flat 11X L's.

That would be a dream come true for me.

Reviving this thread with (I think) my first ever post on DGCR.

I'm a newer player, started in Jan 2019, but decided from the beginning that dammit, I'm going to be an eagle thrower. Have mostly thrown a mildly-domed 12x champion x mold, but not the most recent one where the disc name is imprinted on the underside.

I just picked up one of the new star INNfuse molds. It is considerably flatter than any eagle I've held before, and I think it has the ridge you all talked about.

What do the more experienced eagle throwers think of this new line?
