[Innova] Top ten worst discs made by innova/discraft

groove, kite, sonic, polecat, wolf, archangel, dragon, wahoo, vulcan, skeeter.
list done.

How about SuperClass discs? The Zephyr is cool to toss around in the parking lot, though...

My dad only throws Super Class because he's "OLD SCHOOL". He always does well with them...I can't get that Zephyr to do anything but that Condor can roll for days. I've seen him roll it over a rock pile.

So reading through the pages I have 3 of the discs in my bag that people seem to hate. Dragon, I can sort of see why. But why the Kite? And especially why the Birdie? Sorry, I havve not been playing long enough to understand I guess.

Hmmmmm.......Although some (very few) elite players are known for carrying overstable plastic......."Cale Leveiska would come to mind first". I would venture to take a guess that most of them don't. All very overstable discs do is cover up flaws in your technique.

Ask Climo what he throws on a hole that doglegs hard left........I would be willing to bet that he's probably got some beat to piss roadrunner or eagle. Overstable discs just want to get to the ground quicker. Understable discs "when people learn how to throw properly" hold better longer lines......sure its not easy to throw them like that because it takes near flawless technique.......Sure you might need something more stable to throw in the wind........but I would put my money on the fact that you will never ever ever ever see.......the nuke OS, The ape or any other meathook out there as the long distance record.........IMO

I don't want to turn the thread into any kind of argument here. Just two different opinions. Maybe some people might cover form flaws with them but that has absolutely nothing to do with someone who has a good arm and uses them for there intended purpose. There are a good number of shots that require a hard flat throw (maybe with a slight anny) that NEED to come back at the end. Thrown too hard a disc like the Boss won't come back. At that speed its basically just straight. Add wind and a disc like the OS or Ape is exactly what you need. Its not just for a hyzer shot (which they excel at as well). I too will throw more understable plastic on a hyzer quite a bit if the wind isn't blowing heavily. Some people play a finesse game and some a power game. I'm not going to say the Comet sucks because it fits a different style of play. The Ape and Nuke OS are a power players dream disc. Also, I don't think they were meant to break distance records. Many discs are not made with the sole purpose of beating a distance record. I will also bet more players than you think throw these discs, especially with the new generation of younger hard throwing pros.

^I understand what you are saying.......I wasn't trying to get into an argument. I'm just a firm believer that you don't need that kind of disc to compete at a high level......thats all.

Yeah he definitely doesn't throw the KC firebirds, or the old 11x teebirds that are super stable that he says he loves or the KC whippet. I think there is a correlation with bad logic and the amount of ellipses used.

You also know there are discs designed for things besides distance right? The Nuke OS, Ape or whatever won't hold the distance record because they are not meant to be distance drivers. The roc and buzz won't hold the distance record but they are great discs. The opto pure isn't going to hold the distance record but is still a great disc.

You would be incorrect. You definitely need overstable discs to compete at a high level. Their advantage is consistence and what separates pros from everyone else is consistency. All the pros I know carry those champ glow firebirds in their bag. Will S. is carrying a champ viper in the bag, one of the most overstable discs in the bag and he is a top pro. Nikko loves throwing overstable plastic and carries a few firebirds at all time.

I started reading this thread but noticed quickly alot fo the lists were "discs that i dont like or i cant throw right" and not really truly bad discs.

Except for a few things like the 10m Brick, in all honesty there are not too many bad discs. Which such a wide variety of player ability, different courses with different lines, and people throwing at different altitudes, almost all discs will seem bad while others work perfectly.

Since we are limiting this list to only Discraft and Innova, we are already adding the element of subjectivity.

I don't think you're seeing my point.......

Dave Feldberg explains this very thing in the Clash Video Cliff Stevens. Ken throws something understable with a hyzer because as the disc fades it is still relatively level to the ground and therefore still traveling forward. An overstable disc will try to burn into the ground after taking the turn. So, if you want a disc to really go far left, throw understable.

Pure is not overstable enough to get that nice fade around trees blocking the basket. the Opto Pure is an amazing mid, only an OK putter, too slick for a putter.

Maybe you should throw around the tree instead of get behind it? LOLOLOLOLOL. I have no trouble throwing it around trees. If I need a sharp angle around a tree, yea it's not that good.
