I played fewer events last year than in quite a while (12 PDGA events down from 27 the year before) and will probably play about the same this year. Part of the drop off was because I ceased running nearly as many one day flex starts the majority of which I was playing in. Also had an injury which took me out for a couple months in the latter part of the year. Thirdly I have aged to the point of being relatively non-competitive in my current division. Being 59 playing with the 50 year olds is a lot bigger gap for me than being 49 playing with the 40 year olds was. Next year i get to be the "young" guy in the division again. My rating is creeping downward but slowly. I still enjoy tournaments but don't really dig getting my ass kicked.
