Yes, I'm a newbie here, but not to online forums, so I'd like to ask if there's a particular place where new DGers introduce themselves and whatnot, or if you just jump in with both feet and warm up. I've looked around the forums and I can't find an intro thread.

Secondly, is there a section for DGers to try and find other DGers in the area to play with? Is it taboo to start a thread just for that purpose? I can't find a list of forum moderators to query either, so I'm a bit lost. Can you please help me?

I thank you in advance for your kind assistance. :D

You're welcome.
Welcome to the site. You'll find lots of good info on here and I'm sure you'll get some good laughs too!

this is a fine place to introduce yourself. welcome to the sport!

Well, okay, thanks!

Right now I live in San Diego with my wife and 4 crazy kids. I'm in the Navy and have been for over 17 years.

As far as disc golf goes, my profile says 18.2 years but that's misleading. I started disc golf in Yellostone N.P. in 1991 when my roommate took me out and let me borrow a disc. I got hooked and played a lot that summer. After that I joined the Navy, got stationed in Italy (where I met my wife) and stayed there for 14 years. Played no disc golf whatsoever while there, but then transferred to San Diego where I've played Morley Field a few times.

I just got back from a vacation to my hometown in Nebraska where they built a 9-hole disc golf course and so my brother and I played a couple of times. I love disc golf and really want to get back into it.

This is an awesome site, by the way!

timg is the owner and a moderator of this site. EricJ is the other moderator.

We seem to do a good job of moderating ourselves. Go overboard one time and see what happens.

Welcome and have a great time.

Welcome to the site. You will find a lot of great advice on this site. Morley is a great course. Played any of the other courses in Socal yet?

Welcome to the site and back to the sport.

If you'd like to suggest any additions or anything to the site, there is a Site Suggestions forum. That's where I've always gone.

And thanks also to DGCowboy, I've never noticed the members tab.

fyi: Disc Dog is the village idiot but makes a mean tuna melt.

Welcome to the sport and the site. What do you do in the Nav?

Glad to see your getting back into the game again. Maybe if you're worried about being misleading. Change when you started playing disc golf to after you got out of the navy and started playing seriously again. Ever since I joined this site I have had a great time and learned a ton. Welcome to the community.

Praetorian,
Welcome to the site...

I look forward to playing a few rounds with you when I get back in town...

Yeah, this is a very good site to learn players, courses, and tips for the sport you would never think of on your own.

Like anyother sport when you're playing, if there are nice people playing around you, feel free to strike up a conversation. Most of the people I've met on the course are very friendly and ready to talk, but don't feel discouraged if you run into some d-bags, just brush them off and go talk with someone else.

Keep with it, and hope you have fun
