2015 Beaver State Fling presented by Keen Footwear

What made CCDG so great was the awesome commentary you provided. McFly videos are well filmed but they are no different that 90% of the videos out there because they take the easy route of film, edit and post. Anyone can post an edited video but what takes real talent (and effort) is being able to provide quality commentary.

Don't be a lemming and follow the crowd. Keep the high quality videos that have made you great, don't change your format.

I feel like you're my DG Video coach, and now I'm all pumped up! You make some excellent points on our coverage, and I agree. For BSF expect round 2, 3 and 4 with commentary next day vids. (Round 3 might be a day late on the commentary), but we'll put up the non for next day if you can't wait.

As for McFly I think there are 3 things that set him apart: Great video quality, quantity of content, and next day videos. He was the first to do next day, and now it's the standard we all strive for. FWIW I think I put up the first next day video w/ commentary done in post.

Hoping on a plane after work, then spending all day at Milo on Thursday taking pics and video for the round vids.

ugh!!!! So torn on this decision. While I love the commentary especially with the Pro perspective from the player guest hosts, I am also starving for the content and to see the lead card rounds. it is a toss up for me, which ever option you pick I will watch happily. Stoked to hear you guys are out there CCDG!!!!

Also congrats and good luck this week HR! thanks for bumping the thread and getting the convo. moving.

My own dumb, personal opinion: I don't care for any commentary except for SpinTV when he has a player as co-host. For all other videos with commentary, I'll either try to ignore it or just turn the volume down.

I made the decision to go up and watch the morning round live. I'm not sure I'll have time to watch any of the other rounds live this weekend (stupid graduation and graduation parties!) So because of that you have no need to film and post the first round. Stick with the second round and commentary from there on out. That's what my personal needs require.

For me, the commentary is a crucial factor. Without it, my eyes tend to glaze over and I just watch the pictures go by without really enjoying them. I end up watching almost everything I can get my hands on, but I watch the CCCG vids first and enjoy them most.

So anyone think Nate Sexton aka the local can pull off an NT win this weekend? He is living here in NC these days while his girl is going to Med. School. so via the transitive property of residences I am rooting for the "local".

He started the month right by posting a win at the Ft. Steilacoom Open last weekend. But that was sans his travel companion. who's is rooting for who this weekend??

Doss is an Oregon boy nowadays. And he shoots well at Milo. I'm pulling for him. But I'm always pulling for Sexton and Brinster (although I don't want to play with either and endure their putting routines). I'd like to see Brody Miller do well too -- Portland guys and all.

HA! driving the bus is always entertaining and I am not sure what to call Nates routine.

Nate Doss does come correct at Milo. I am expecting a strong finish from a Washingtonian, Mr. Kyle Crabtree as well.

always rooting for Brinster ... just played at the Tinicum Open with him ... I played decently, shooting a 57 and 54 on a par 58 layout (good for a tie for 7th in MPO) ... but Steve absolutely slayed it with a 44 in the first round and then a "human" 49 in the second round ... so I'd say he's on point at the moment

what I love about Brinster (other than the fact that him and his wife are generally awesome people) is his quiet distance. The dude can absolutely mash but looks completely effortless when he does it.

If you think they have odd putting routines, watch footage of Geoff Bennett.

I like the commentary. My minor criticism of CCDG is that there is a slight telephone booth quality to the audio. The commentary would feel more authentic if you could eliminate that. Can you hang some blankets up around the room you recording in?

I am hoping for another Nate vs. Nate Battle like they had a few years ago. I think Sexton is really picking up speed this year being on tour and training with McBeth. He is such a great teacher and humble player. His rounds are always pretty clean... nothing dramatic and risky, but clean. And when he does get into trouble, he makes great escapes.

There is no internet out there, so maybe they decided against it. I would think they could still text the scores in to someone that can post it though.

From the PDGA site:

Live scoring and tweeting on pdgalive.com will start for Round 2 of the 2015 Beaver State Fling on Friday afternoon once the lead cards are established and it will continue for the remainder of the weekend. Several different YouTube channels will be on site filming including Central Coast Disc Golf, Prodigy Disc, Jomez Productions, and EMVLife. We'll be providing links to all videos of the events for you on PDGA.com as soon as they become available.

There is internet out there. I use internet out there when throwing and fly-fishing. But I'm sure it is too slow for a live video stream. Plenty fast for Twitter, Insta, live scoring, etc. though.
