[Putters] Putting with other disc?

Ever play a night round? I am pro at putting with non-putter plastic, due to laziness. I only light up one mold, as do my friends. I do a lot of putting with speed class 7-10 molds because of this. Things like TeeBirds, Vikings, Valkyries, Orcs, Beasts, XLs, XSs, Stalkers, et cetera. Because of this, over time, I have mastered putting on a hyzer, which is a nice skill to have. Nothing will ever out-putt a dedicated putter mold, but you can putt with anything, as long as you release it at the proper angle. This is one of those "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"-type of deals hahaha.

Whatever disc was in your hand when you threw it at the chains is your putter. Said another way, whatever works for you. I'll play one-disc rounds with a Gator and by the end of the round I am nearly convinced I should use a Gator to putt with all the time.

My friend forehand putts with drivers. So yeah, you could putt with whatever you want. I'd try a test push putt with a driver if it wasn't dark and cold outside right now, but I bet you'll find them more wobbly and harder fading.

Though I've heard in high wind conditions people putt with drivers because it offers less resistance to the wind.

For random and funsies? Sure. I'll throw anything at the chains once or twice.

Do I *seriously* putt with something other then a putter? Heck naw. And you probably shouldn't either.

Push putting drivers is actually a lot of fun, in a weird way. The get to the basket super fast and then just fall out like a brick. Very entertaining.

My buddy is deadly with a roc. Like 50 and in he is hitting it. It works for him and pisses us all off. He has no desire to use a putter.

One of my friends putts exclusively forehand. With a FLX Buzzz. He is also a lefty. Super oddball dude. He is money from 30 feet in with his forehand putt too.

If you putt with anything besides a putter do yourself a favor & make the switch. This sounds stupid & obvious but putters were designed for putting. Using anything besides a putter for putting is just hurting your game. If someone says they're better at putting with a disc that isn't a putter, that currently could be true. Though if they put the practice time in with a putter, in the long run their putting would improve.

I wish there was a synonym for "putting" :D

Interesting you say you have mastered putting with a hyzer release. I do the opposite and throw non-putters with an anny release when putting with them (part of a practice routine when emptying my bag -- drive with 23 discs and keep throwing them until all are in the basket). If it's really windy I'll sometimes putt with a softer plastic driver but not very often.

Not wobbly at all but absolutely more fade so you have to compensate if you try it.

And yes with heavy wind a thinner disc cuts thru the wind better -- wind can get under a putter and really carry it away.

One can use any disc to putt with. I play with a group on occasion that are just casual weekend players, noodle arms, no interest in becoming DGCR semi-pros. Several of them will putt with Leopards, with Teebirds, with whatever they have in their hands. Sometimes they putt better with those discs than with putters.

Myself, I use putters (Wardens and Judges, mostly), but I've been known to throw my Panther or Roc3 to finish out a hole.

One reason some people do not use drivers or control drivers to putt is because the chains themselves will beat up discs and they don't want their drivers being beat up by putting with them. So keep that in mind if using a non-putter for putting duties.

Many normal humans use Midranges* for for real putting on those tricky high wind days. Safeties or chain runners. They do not get as blown around as most putters. if you are comportable with spin putting fast, you will not lose much accuracy vs a putter.

Putting with an anny release angle turns putting into too much of a guessing game. Playing the fade is much more reliable. For me, anyways.

I've putted with an aviar driver before. Sounds wacky but it actually worked pretty well.

So have I. Of course, it is the same mold as the JK Aviar that's my normal putter, anyway. :) I just like the feel of the JK Pro plastic vs. the Star for putting duties.

I have a friend who primarily putts with a Cheetah, too.

Many Innova pros putt with the Big Bead Aviar mold. The Aviar Driver (Star), Yeti Pro Aviar, JK Pro Aviar & KC Pro Aviars are the same mold just different plastics. Theres even some older Champion, CFR Glow Champion & CFR DX out there. I putt with KC Aviars. Tell Climo or Jenkins it's wacky they work pretty well. I'm sure they'd get a good chuckle out of it :D
