I'm looking for a Dynamic Discs or Latitude 64 disc to replace my Buzzz and a DD or Lat64 disc to replace my Shark.

What DD/Lat64 disc would you suggest to replace each one of those?

Numbers wise (for whatever that's worth) it seems the Compass, Truth, and Core are close to the Buzzz while the EMAC Truth, Suspect, and Mace fall close to the Shark.

My Shark was well beaten before my ten year old started using it and it is really beaten in now. My Buzzz I never have really gelled with - I tried the Buzzz SS in the Z line and didn't like the plastic. Went to the Buzzz in the X-Line and never had good result with it....probably a mental thing from the bad experience with the Buzzz SS.

I'm looking at DD and Lat64 discs because I absolutely love the feel of the Lucid/Opto plastics...to me it seems to offer the perfect combination of grip and hardness.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

I tried the Compass in both Opto and Gold Line plastics. It's very similar to the Buzzz as well as the Roc3. The Compass is a good disc, and probably what you want, but for me the Ti plastic Buzzz won the spot in my bag.

I also tried the Core, in GL plastic, but I like the Panther and the Mako3 much better; they were and are more consistent for me. Just my preferences.

Westside Pine for Buzzz, Lat 64 Fuse for Shark.

Westside VIP is their Lucid/Opto plastic

An Opto Core compare more to the Z Buzzz SS than the X Buzzz. Perhaps a touch less stable than the SS with less finish. Though the Core has more glide. IMO.

I used to throw a Buzzz & Buzzz SS
Replaced them with an Opto & Prime Truth & never looked bac.
Some discs just feel better in the hand, even if they're not the most popular (Buzzz or Roc)

If a Buzz you can't throw, try an ESP Impact, that disc will fly slower then most fairway drivers and be more like a driving midrange, Long midrange. I use one, only problem is the disc can only do straight. If not that try a Zombie, another slow midrange like putter.
I can use a Buzz but is not in my bag as I use a Shark the disc That was copied by Discraft in flight by the standard Buzz.
A Drone no, I tried with one in Elite X I found on a course bran new only a first name on the bottom. I did not like it as that disc like a Whippet is so overstable I just have it do a U or J shape, would be useful as specialty disc but I can do the same with a few other discs like my Star or old palstic Pro Shark 175 grams for both on a hyzer or a 170 gram XL in either ESP or Elite Z, even my more beefy heaver 170 gram Destroyer if I power down a bit on the disc. A cousin used a Drone at the time so I gave the disc I found to him after I was done playing as he was with other cousins playing on same course. I have a large family and I kind of started some to playing disc golf who started others to playing as well. Only after a Uncle and Cousin started me playing becuse the other youngest uncle who wanted to play could not as he did something to an ankle during hacky sack .

I mean if you can't gel with a Buzzz, not sure what else you can throw.

Shark is my go to as a mid, like a ROC but without the sudden drop when the disc starts to visibly slow down for me. If I had to go all Discraft I would have to use a Buzz in that place, can't throw a Wasp they are too erratic in flight for me.

Thanks for the input!

Lat64 and DD offer several (3 or 4) discs that have almost identical specs to the Buzzz as well as several (4 or 5) discs that have very similar specs to the Shark....tough to narrow it down.

Thanks for the info on the Core. To be honest, I haven't found a Innova plastic I really like except for the DX---maybe one of the reasons I'm looking at Lat64/DD discs, because I love the feel of their premium plastics so those discs will hopefully hold their flight pattern than the DX Innovas I have do.

Westside Pine for Buzzz, Lat 64 Fuse for Shark.

I thought the Fuse was understable (5 6 -2 1) while the Shark, I believe, is an overstable disc (4 4 0 2)?

Anchor, Compass and Pine could all work for you, Truth is pretty good too(not the EMac one).

Have you tried the EMAC? Seems to get a lot of love but haven't ever thrown one, or the Truth, for that matter. Just from numbers it seems like the Truth/EMAC Truth should make a nice straight/overstable combo.

I'm still a newbie to disc golf but my likes definitely aren't the norm: no love for the Buzzz, don't like any Innova plastics except the DX, etc.

Just out of curiousity....what's your reasoning for carrying both the Opto and Prime Truth?

I appreciate everyone's input!!!

The regular Truth for me was a better feeling slightly faster Buzzz, and the EMac was slightly more OS. It's more OS than a Shark IMO, kind of like a Roc3 but feels a bit better.

Thanks for that response!

Appreciate the info on the EMAC/Shark/ROC3. I had been struggling with my Roc (not 3) until today when I threw one exactly like I wanted...straight about 200', between two trees (about 15' apart), and then a nice fade down towards the target.

My Star Shark, despite the numbers, is straight-stable as opposed to overstable. My Shark3s are more reliably overstable.

As to the rest, part of the fun of DG is trying stuff and finding out what you like and what works (and what doesn't) for you. I was once "accused" of not throwing/liking "normal" discs, such as the Teebird and Destroyer. I am guilty of throwing what I like and liking what I throw. If you and the Buzzz are not compatible, find out what works and use it! Plastics are a personal preference, as well.

Yes, lots of mids out there. I'm in a place where I don't use many mids at all, I go from approach discs to fairway drivers for the most part. Ergo, I haven't tried many Trilogy mids, though I'm sure they're good...

Stability & glide...
Opto is more stable. The Prime has more glide, which results in a little more distance (for me). The prime will also break in much more quickly, which makes it better for turn over shots.
I also carry an EMac Truth as my overstable mid for windier conditions or when I need additional fade.

IMO flight numbers are a nice guidance system, but you really have to throw a disc to know how it works for you

The Shark you are throwing is DX so I was supposing that it was beaten in a bit so I recommended something more US than the Pine.
