2019 Pros Switching Sponsors Official Thread

My thoughts on some of the comments:

Drew Gibson does seem a little like a dudebro, but I don't know him and I know plenty of dudebros that are actually great people.

Those comments you posted proving he is sexist, were not sexist. At worst, a not funny joke, but not sexist.

Leave JT alone. I like when people with some actual knowledge post on here. Don't scare them off.

JT, just don't engage the trolls. We all know them for what they are. Not that you should have to put up with crap because you have some name recognition. And thank you for being as candid as you can on here.

When someone is asking about ladies apparel, and the first thing he says is I have ladies underwear, that's a little creepy. May not be an amazing example of him being sexist, but it does make you think. Also, if he thinks everything is fine because he "wrote just kidding in all caps" , he also seems like an oblivious moron.

It's great when people take fun threads and make it all about them and their ego for 10-15 posts.

Just shut up.

Were here to talk about how McBeth and Wysocki are making their own disc golf company with Nike and they're both going to make a million dollars.

How insane and awesome would that be if McBeth and Ricky teamed up to be the face of McBeths new line of discs if that's what he ends up doing. I think they could get a whole heck of a lot people making a switch.

How many of you casting aspersions have actually met Drew Gibson? Or Paul? Or Ricky? While I am not white knighting for any of them in particular, the hypocrisy of someone who will be so negative towards a person that they have never interacted with in real life is at best a total waste of time. Think about it. "I don't like (root against, etc) _______, because of their social media presence, or the way they reacted in a situation I have never (and likely will never) be in!"

Kettle, meet pot. You're on social media if you are posting here. You are exposing your largely unfounded opinions (and likely stupidity) to the masses. Could you be any more judgmental? This thread is a microcosm of our society. They both make me sick.

Now, if you have met the people you want to dish on, or are willing to have an intelligent discussion, carry on. The rest of you, get off my lawn.

Maybe this is what Drew and Ricky are really doing?

From Drew Gibson on Facebook:

"So this is a genuine question.... If Ricky Wysocki and I were to open a Disc Golf Pro Shop with.....

1) 9 holes of mini golf (real sized targets)
2) Ping Pong tables
3) Couch's TV area
4) Arcade Games
5) Spot to host clinics
6) Driving nets
7) Be the home/warehouse of both of our websites so always would have our products available

Just to name a few things.

Who would be interested in supporting something like this or think it'd be a good idea? Also how far would you be willing to travel to check out something like this? Basically it would be a Disc Golf Fun Center!!"

I have not met him personally. However, I have quite a few friends who have met him and said he was a grade a tool to them. I see him posting idiotic things on facebook and social media. He has had a ton of incidents on the course that make me think he cannot control his emotions. That's more than enough reasons for me not to root for him. I never said he was a bad guy, just that I don't root for him. If I meet him one day and he changes my perception of who he is, then I will welcome that, but I don't have a ton of hope to be honest.

If you want to look at my social media/forum posts and inform an opinion about who I am you're more than welcome too. I try to present myself as authentic and rational as possible.

I think once people are done "takin' a p*ss" at each other, pros, politics etc. then they will get off your lawn. Although you may need to re-seed certain areas when that time comes...

This thread was interesting until people started making personal attacks on players. I think it's time to just put this thread to rest.

No, no, no - this is DGCR in a nutshell when news stories in our sport come out once in a blue moon. As we get closer to January and more information is leaked out the discussions will go back on topic. For now we will leave the on-topic and polite discussions for Reddit. :p

This isn't how "interaction" works in the 21st century. I will grant that a person's social media presence can be a performance, but that doesn't mean that others (their audience) can't come to their own conclusions. There's the intention of the person posting whatev r the post, and there's also how it is received. Drew puts forth a persona online. Is it his authentic self? I have no idea.

The accusation earlier made of dorseymatt that he was playing identity politics (not saying you made it) left out that everyone on this thread asking for "evidence" of every rumor and everyone saying it is unfair to judge people we have not met in person are playing identity politics too by acting like there is a correct, logical way to respond to rumors and a righteousness is not judging people we don't know. Ian doesn't strike me as a liar. I'm likely to believe rumors/claims linked to him. Drew, in his public engagement and online behavior strikes me as someone who is flippant, immature, disrespectful of women , and uncaring of how others perceive him.

I think that last point is the point. People think being "uncaring of how others perceive him" is a value to be praised. It's also a characteristic of egomaniacs one of whom is running this country.

And, on the note of not really knowing Drew, how many of you really know any of the FPO players? And yet, that's not stopped people from jumping from commenting about FPO broadcasts being gigglefests to making claims about personalities of women we don't know.

Stop clogging up this thread with non-news or someone create a new thread with a single post that is locked and edited by author for actual team switches. This thread as it is is useless for news.

Discraft Top 3:
- McBeth
- Jones
- Ulibarri

How much steam is there behind the Uli Discraft thing? Is his move as imminent as McBeth's?

I think (hope) Uli will be doing a lot more commentating this year and that is something that would be huge for Discraft.

Also, I really hope McBeth does a lot more commentating this year as well. I'm sure he'll be eager to let others in on what he's throwing and I just appreciate his insight over just about any one else's.

It seems Uli has greatly improved his commentary over this year, along with consistency in his game. If he switches, it's probably a good thing, but I think the pros regress some figuring out the nuances of the new bag. I hope he can continue where he ended the season.

Hence why he ripped their logo off and called it his own. Very surprised that DD stamped discs up with that logo.

I've met Drew in person a few times and I'm kinda neutral on him overall, but I've gotta clarify what went on there. One of his clothing sponsors came up with the idea of creating car-themed stamps for their players and making a small run of fundraiser discs with them. Drew's was based on the Corvette logo obviously. (Side note, he actually sold his Corvette this year to get cash for a down payment on a house.) Drew wasn't involved in the design at all, other than approving the result. After the backlash on Reddit, those discs ended up being given out in a player's pack for an event I played.

Drew took all the heat for that, but I'm looking right now at a Philo DX Cadillac Roc. In that same pack were a Josh Anthon Star Boss and an Izak McDonald Luster Firebird, both of which have modified car logos I've seen before but can't fully place. These were all Innova-sponsored players, not DD. BTW, I have a Philo DX Cadillac Roc, an Anthon Star Boss, and an IMAC Luster Firebird for sale, all unthrown.
