Lost Disc Mega Thread: Post your lost disc questions and stories here.

Keep a baseball in your bag for the next time you get one stuck in a tree. It's much easier than throwing discs (which might also get stuck) and doesn't take up much bag space.

My Nalgene bottle (best if 1/4 to 1/2 full) works great unless the disc is WAY up there. One was too high, I'd guess 40 feet up, and I literally spent more than 30 minutes throwing sticks and stones. I have a really hard time leaving a disc if it's visible.

Found 2 inked discs last wed, one guy was super excited and it's back in his possession, they second didn't really care, he thanked me for the honesty and told me to keep it.

So I'm at the beach, taking a long walk with my kids off to a remote stretch of beach which isn't very populated but has a lot of sandy open space. I've been taking discs out here on these walks because I can practice all sorts of throws out here without worrying about hitting anyone or losing the discs. I had been using a highlighter yellow champion panther that I didn't really have a use for but I liked the color because it was easy to spot, but then my dad went and lost it in dense sticker bushes a few days ago. So today I brought out another disc I bought used (like the panther), but I had never tried out... a rather heavy archangel. And on its maiden voyage, it took off like a monster. Which would have been great, had I not griplocked and sent it 90 degrees the wrong way off off and away... into the sea.

Three hours later, we came back on bikes as the tide had gone out further and my daughter found it stuck in the sand. I gave it to her :)

My 13-year-old uses my hand-me-downs and lost his favorite disc (Blizzard Wraith) when we played UC Santa Cruz the other day. He was crestfallen when we gave up looking - I told him my name/number was on it so there was always a chance we'd get it back.
Today (two days later) we are literally on our way out of town when I get a text from someone who found it and left it at the starter's shed at DeLa!!
Needless to say, we turned around and went and got it! Thank you again to whomever found it and texted me - my son was SO happy to get that disc back!
Plus, I got a look at DeLa and can't wait to play it someday when I'm in the area solo (it's too much course for my boys, which is why we were at UCSC in the first place)

Lost my TL the other day in the weeds near my house. It's green, of course. Searched for 20 minutes with no luck. Hopefully, when winter comes and all the kudzu, poison ivy, etc. dies back, I will be able to spot it.

I lost my Comet today at Blendon Woods. I don't know what hole it was on because someone stole all the tee signs on the course.

It's a bright pink Comet... I thought it was a good shot at a blind anhyzer towards the pin. It must have disappeared under the thick brush of the woods. I really liked my Comet. Sadface :(

I like to keep an ice hockey puck in my bag for just such and emergency (it is flat & weighs 8 oz so it takes less room than a baseball).

I can see how a hockey puck would work well!! Baseballs suit me perfectly, though. I literally have dozens of them around the house and, since I still play, throwing them at things comes pretty naturally (I just imagine my stuck disc is a hitter crowding the plate!). The weight/bag space difference between a baseball and a hockey puck is negligible - puck is about half an ounce heavier and they're both roughly three inches in diameter

The broader point is that you should have SOMETHING in your bag for this purpose, regardless of what it is!

Last month I found a guys Roc in a tree. A couple stick throws and I got it down. I contacted him and he lives a few hours away from me. He said I won't make it to Tahoe in a long time and told me to just keep it. I told him it's a nice Roc and I don't throw Rocs. So I offered to mail it to him free of charge. He was suprised and even sent me a pic a few days later when he recieved it.
Anyways a couple weeks ago I was playing China Peak( which is a badass must play) and I get to hole 10. 1050ft with roughly 3-400 ft elevation drop. I step up and throw my baby which is a very seasoned old echo destroyer. It gets a wind bounce about 500ft down the ski run and flips up and turns over in an anny. We lost sight of it. We all looked for 20 mins or so and another 20 mins the next day. Called it a gonner and I was a little butthurt. So a week later I get a call from a guy in San Jose that said hey man I found your frisbee at China Peak. I asked if I could have his address and mail him a pre paid envelope. He replied don't bother just give me your address and i'll send it to you on my dime. Karma works!

Regrettably posting in this thread yet again.

I lost my Star Starfire yesterday at Idlewild. I don't know what hole it was on. I griplocked and shanked it right into the woods. It's a dayglow tennis ball colored Star Starfire. If anyone finds it and calls me I will be forever grateful as it was one of my favorite discs.

Lost my Cannon that I drew on at Verdugo last friday night. I'll pay money to get it back because it was one of the first Cannons I owned.

Lost a tournament harp on #7 at orchard park. It turned over....went right off the bakery and disappeared. Green with people strap. ...no ink :(

A week and a half ago, I lost the Daedalus (orange) I was just getting used to on hole 8 of Reservoir Ridge in Galion, OH... I went to the sporting goods store that same day and bought a replacement. Still hoping the one I lost comes back to me.
Same course yesterday, I let my friend borrow my Mako3 (also orange) because he lost his Panther (purple) on hole 10.
He lost my Mako3 on hole 20...
All of those discs are marked, so if anyone stumbles across any of them, I'd love to have them back.
This course seems to eat discs LOL.

Yeah, I've lost too many discs at Galion. Where is the store that sells discs located?

Losing discs definitely sucks, especially when they are drivers that are your go-to's! Weird Karma for me though. Found a Valkyrie on my first time ever disc golfing (no info on it for returning) and wound up losing it to water several outings later (Round Barn - Manhattan course). Earlier this summer found a pro Valkyrie sitting propped up by a tree trunk, plainly sitting there (maybe guys maintaining the course found it while cutting grass and left it there in case anyone wanted to claim it). No ph number or anything on it to return it. Lost that one to a water hole (Community Park - Channahon course) which couldn't be found even though a guy wearing waders was going thru there digging out other lost discs and offered to search for mine. Evidently the soft mud ate it up because the water wasn't very deep where it landed. Two morals to this story: 1) write down some info on back of discs in case anyone finds the discs and feels like returning them (from now on my tele # and email are going on my best discs) and 2) use that damned floating disc I carry in my bag and quit using better discs on water holes! My last lost disc I thought I would throw over or around the water so I didn't use the floater. Idiot!!
