    replacing discs during a tournament

Why do people always want to make more rules for other people even when they are not needed? This is why we have hundreds of thousands of laws with more added every day.. Not everything needs to be complicated or constantly changed unless there's a good reason.

    2015 Worlds qualification criteria

More like 2 months, November and December events are pretty scarce especially in the northern U.S. I have enough points and still think it's a little unfair to change it for the next year when most of the tournament season is already past. I'm sure the PDGA has been discussing it all along...

    2014 BHMO

"Everything is par 3." Even when it's 570 feet through tight woods. I think it's a case of the old school way of thinking since shooting an 81 is usually well over a 1000 rated round. There's definitely at least a half dozen par 4s and a par 5 or two scattered in there by PDGA guidelines. The...

[Innova] "THE Atlas" of DGCR - Tales of a Traveling Disc

If you're doing that with the original, you should have everyone fill the top of the disc with names/places and send it to the IDGC when its full, be pretty cool. I don't want to hog or copycat your idea though, now I kinda feel guilty thinking about starting another.

[Innova] "THE Atlas" of DGCR - Tales of a Traveling Disc

I've become quite addicted to atlases and they have replaced most of my midrange lineup I've thrown for 25 years within a month of my accidental discovery of them at last year's Rochester Flying Disc Open. Not only would I feel incredibly priveleged to be able to throw the traveling one at this...

    [Recommend] Large Diameter Discs

I carry a Zephyr as a utility disc for most tournaments and tightly wooded courses, even though it's a major pain to fit in most bags. (seems counterintuitive that the tighter the course the bigger the disc, I know, but one of the areas the Zephyr excels in is being able to throw tight gaps and...

    My rating means...?

Against most "Casual" players is a tough comparison. You see people on the course that have never played a PDGA or league round that run the gamut from zig zagging back and forth all over the course to guys who jog the course with 2-3 discs and seem to park every shot without even pausing for...

    Wardrobe Malfunction

I've never been so thankful to have spent 2003 in a coma. (and yes, joking but couldn't resist, sorry.)

What's your favorite shot to throw?

I'll donate some data: D Hyzer flip.. hands down most satisfying and fun for me. F flat <275'-300 or flat with fade at the very end if no run up, but end up throwing a plain old hyzer mostly if the hole allows (higher percentage accuracy.) M Flat with no fade. (favorite and go to if the...

how many people is too many?

You're talking about bath though Chris, which is kind of an extreme example when one out of 6 players were coming in with scores over 100 in the final round last year. And no short tees for rec players. On the other hand the ironwood you're doing this year never seemed to run long with 5s the...

    Should ams receive payouts?

Am worlds .. Trophy only, guaranteed large field by the nature of the event, all players get more then fair value from entry fee, prestige factor for winning or even attending off the charts. Economically everyone goes home a loser except local players with no travel expenses and no one who...

    Should ams receive payouts?

That's pretty much dead accurate. Trophy only events can work under some circumstances and work well, and in other circumstances we'd probably lose 2/3 attendance. No rights or wrongs, just reality from the way in which disc golf has grown.

    Should ams receive payouts?

All the talk about splitting is a great example of how even though money is the catalyst the sport, paychecks are not the driving force behind competing for most players. For 99.99% of disc golf, after expenses traveling tournament DG is still a money losing proposition. Even for our touring...

    Tournament Profits

If you take all that, combine it with a flat % TD fee (which also encourages big tournaments.. bigger the event, more work but also more compensation for TDs, and deduct a flat fee from ALL players that goes to funding a true "Super tour" that highly rewards the top players (by making it...

    Tournament Profits

PDGA disc golf is ratings based competition, economically driven by ratings based gambling. And we're not even on the map as far as the NCAA or any professional big money farm league or college sport is concerened. "Oh, no, that guy is a professional corn hole player, we should not let him get...

    Tournament Profits

I've got to quote myself on that because it sounds ambiguous. TDs would be the determiner of how sponsorship money is spent, but any sponsorship classed as the "Added Cash" would be added to the top divisions only. (If a TD had say, $1000 in outside money from fundraisers or direct sponsorship...

    Tournament Profits

It's also time just to put an end to a bunch of other arguments and just start calling all the ratings based divisions Division 1, 2, 3, 4, and "not quite ready yet" and decide what to set the ratings limits at. The hardest part is setting the lower limit because at some point you just have to...

    Tournament Profits

Simple sample: PDGA C tier Minimum # players 25 (replaces added cash requirements while maintaining PDGA event tier points tables) Novice/ Rec 20$ (because anything less is local league entry fee level) INT 30$ Advanced 40$ Open 50$ Presumably the better your game the more you're willing to...
