Also I'm curious anyone here with enough experience with valkyries that knows what the flat top does vs a more domed top(not super domey just one with a dome)?
First, qualifications.
20+ years playing.
Have aced with a Valk.
Carry a minimum of 3 Valks at all times.
Now, to your question.
Domey means less stable with more glide.
Domey for most players with fly farther, especially downwind.
Domey for me flies in a nice " S " pattern when thrown correctly.
Domey turns over easier, which limits the power you can apply.
Flat tops, like stated above, are more like a Firebird, very stable.
Flat tops are better into the wind.
Flat tops for me fly in a dependable " J " pattern, really straight, then a moderate glide turn to the ground with no skip.
You can apply much more power to a flat top.
Champ and Pro Valks have the most dome.
2nd run CE and Star the least.
My favorite Valk right now is a red 161 gram Star model with a ruler flat top, its a superb disc for placement and controlled lines.
Flat tops allow those of use with less power to use lighter disc weights to throw farther without turning discs over.
I'm sure there are plenty of people that disagree with this, but its my experience, after years of playing, not just stuff I read on a website somewhere.
