North Carolina bound need advice

Home after playing Renny Gold ,Nevin ,Eastway and Reedy and then a 9 hr ride home in one day I'm almost not sure it all happened
Good times throwing with SmoothSailor Chain Addicted and the NC Bunch...great people and good times...I threw like green dog**** but was equally amazed by the courses and hospitality of the Charlotte Gang
I felt like santa claus hanging with smooth sailor as we gave trinkets of Rocs and Dg Porn to a local guide who showed us the way at Hornets Nest....what an experience
Thanks to everyone who helped me along my way both in person and online!
I hope to return and get some revenge on Nevin and play some more with you dixie folks

...I threw like green dog**** ....

Not only that, you also threw OVER green dog**** at Nevin! LOL!

It was good tymes for sure you guys. I was surprised none of these other Charlotte area guys (or should I say girls...you know who you are) wanted to get in on the action over the weekend.

Hope you guys can make it down over the summer maybe... that would be tight yo.

Soon your green dog **** will be white dog **** and all will be right again. Sorry, couldnt make it out earlier. The other place to post for local guides is at the charlottedgc.com website. Obviously it isnt as viewed as this site but the 50-60 different people that log in daily are locals and most don't/haven't visited dgcoursereview.com.

plus charlotte's website has some money fly through tours of their courses...

can you explain this sentence?

do you mean they have people who can give good tours?
do you mean i have to pay someone to come play?

i don't understand

Oh know you didn't!

"Of unusually high quality; very good; excellent"

for example: "my beat in roc is soooo money."

although now that i look i don't see them on their new website... perhaps someone from crown town can elaborate...

A few years I think Dave242 rode all the (then) courses on a bike and made full course videos (flybys). Our goal this year is to update those with newer equipment and to add the new courses. There have been changes to the old courses. There are a few youtube channels with people doing walk throughs.

I dont think those videos are up right now on the new launched site though... I guess I would know since I made the course pages... oh well.

biscoe is talking about the "Be the disc!" narrative simulated fly thrus of the courses. I'm not sure where those videos are located right now since the CDGC website has undergone its recent redesign, which by the wayI must say is pretty sexy. I'll post links to the videos when I find them. The narration sounds like it's being done by Stephen Hawking as the camera is walked through the fairways at a fast clip. They're pretty cool vids.

EDIT: D'oh! 1978 beat me to it.

The videos are linked/referenced in each of the courses' pages here on DGCR. Problem is, when they updated www.charlottedgc.com, they took down all the old content off the server (very bad practice as all links from other sites are now broken). 1978 - if you can get the course directories back up on the ftp site, the links on DGCR will work for the videos.....and the maps.

The site is very nice looking indeed (very nice upgrade), but the content is a mere shell of what used to be on there. As such it is a much less useful resource than it used to be. It is pretty weak that the best region for DG anywhere does not even have course maps to be found online.....and it has been that way for a few months now.

PS - glad you guys like the videos. Those were fun to make. I only did Hornet's Nest on a bike to help cut down on the annoying vibration caused by walking and not having a Steadicam. Plus, the quality is poor since I made them off compressed video since disc space for many GBs of the original .avi video was too expensive back then. Riding a bike did not work so well on terrain and stumps/logs. You can see my almost face-plant on HN #2 - right after the original basket I go over the handlebars, but manage to stay on my feet and walk out the rest of the hole. :D I believe I did them in 2005, so some are now out of date on a few holes. Sugaw is loaded in youtube and linked to at www.charlottedgc.com.

Dave what happened to Cameron Yards?

They are here. At least both layouts of Renny and The Nest are as is Sugaw. Missing are Reedy & Kilborne (out of date anyways with all the part recontruction and re-routing of the courses).

Renny Gold is pretty accurate, but Renny Original has been replaced by (inferior) Renny Black with different routing and a bunch of great holes replaced by some mediocre ones.

Cam Yards was closed down by the Home Owners Association. I think there were a bunch of misdirected concerns. I still own a home there and so my voice still counts for something, but being absent I was not able to make a good case in front of the board.....who I think I could have been convinced to keep it in the ground.

I'm not that great at website stuff but I will email your comments to the web guys.

We made the decision to have course information be as uniform as possible. We havent decided on a map design or scorecard design. We will at the next club meeting...then it just takes someone creating them. The old maps and cards were not uniform. Also, maps and cards for Kilborne, Renny, and HN were incorrect. Why put back bad information.

I linked each course back to here. So people will get that information.

I'll link your videos on youtube on the course pages at our site when I have time at a computer that allows youtube.

This battle wont be won... I offered to do all the work to at least play new 11s then a new pad to 11 long(as 12) and a new pad near the pine trees to long 13 basket...Would save almost 1500' in walking and save the club a basket that could be used somewhere else...

Oh well.

Thanks. Good to hear that stuff will be fixed and updated and improved. Things (maps, scorecards, website) were completely 100% uniform and accurate when I handed all the material (including originals) off to JJ when he took over as infoguy in 2008. Neither him nor Chris after him have done a lick as far as I can tell to keep things up-to-date for courses in the last 3 years. I volunteered a few times over the last 2 years to make the changes myself, but never heard a peep back taking me up on the offers.

So, this is a good thing that improvements are coming. The important stuff that happens in the club is the course work and events. The web presence and other online communication helps keep that important stuff from being obscured to the world.

Yes, we like the trophy...also have 4-5 good Am world candidates and another 4-5 in Raliegh. Good shot to make it 6/10 years ~ champion from NC.
