Need to be in the circle @ PAR - 1. Every hole must be birdy able.

I just don't like looking at a pro shooting -55. Makes it look easy

The widespread and misplaced belief in your first two sentences is actually what causes the -55s to happen.

If everyone used the actual definition, winning pars would be about -4 to -5 per round.

I agree. But most courses I play follow that rule.
