Pittsburgh Disc Golf

Since posting more than a month ago on here, I have played a number of area courses, and I must say, though I haven't gotten to Moraine yet (though I am eager to!), the trip I took to Deer Lakes, as well as the visit I made to IUP's course at the Lodge, have nurtured my addiction again lol.

IUP's course was awesome! But I have to admit, I don't think I have ever played as fun a course as Deer Lakes in my life. So looking forward to playing Moraine!

I have been wanting to get into a more regular routine of play, I have seen that IUP has a league on Wed. nights, any other leagues in the area? Is PFDS planning any Friday/Saturday or Saturday only events this year?

Monday single at deer lakes
Monday doubles at two mile run
Tuesday doubles at knob hill
Wednesday singles at schenley
Thursday doubles at moraine
Thursday singles at north strabane.
Most Sundays singles at knob

This Saturday night round temp course at alemeda
This sunday double dahn at moraine.
July 30-31 pfdo moraine and knob.
Aug 7 ace race at moraine
Augh 27 trilogy challenge at moraine.

So, yes a few leagues and weekly events.
Most of these are on pfds.org and discgolfscene

So I'm not very good at this game yet, and I've never come closer than about 5 feet of an ace and those were just luck. The ace race sounds like a good time from the website, but would i just be embarrassing myself by registering? Are entrants like super awesome and serious or is it a good way to meet other players of all skill levels and just have fun?

Most events like ace races are super casual and fun....unless it is a sanctioned tournament most players are just there to have fun and try out a new disc.

Cream Pro Leopard lost :( on Linbrook #6. Looked like it would be in the fairway at the crest of the hill. Must have skipped left or rolled… if found would love to have it back.

Nostalgia trip with the wife back to PGH. Played a quick round at Schenley. The one great thing about Picksburgh; nothing ever changes. That city is EXACTLY like I left it 7 years ago. (except for Consol; when I left it was the igaloo [peekabooooowooo])

…and the 4 new high rise buildings, Über testing their self driving cars, a completely renovated Market Square, a full Casino now on the North Shore, dancing fountains (ice rink in the winter) in PPG plaza, new convention center…

…but yeah EXACTLY

PGH Course Suggestion?

I will be driving through Pittsburgh up to Meadville and will try to stop for one course on the way back south. My question is- Moraine, Deer Lakes or Knob Hill? Moraine seems the easiest, but wanted input as to if there is a must play over the rest. Thanks!

Moraine is fantastic and easily available right off 79. Knob is also super easy to hit up from 79, whereas Deer Lakes is "off the beaten path".

I hope mean easiest to get to. Moraine is my favorite course in the area. Par 66 with legitimate par 4s & 5s. I would play there over Knob. And as previously stated Deer Lakes (fantastic course also) is well away from where you are traveling.

Meadville?? Make sure to stop at Voodoo Brewing. Another Fantastic stop if you like good craft beers.

Ha, yes, easiest to get to. Love me some par 5 golf! I'll give Moraine a try- if any tour guides are around it'll be Wednesday around 3:30 (hopefully)

Well you know THIS GUY isn't changing ever!

Side note: Took a buddy to Moraine for his first attempt a couple weeks back. Everything was on C-pin and we both road the struggle bus. I had to keep reassuring him that the course wasn't always this brutal...
