Hey Andy how much Salient merch did you purchase? I'm guessing more than nothing...
"We have ESPN commercials, we have commercials that we have cut…This is the full-blown televised event. This isn't a YouTube, iPhone, backpack thing."
Should we be offended at SmashBoxx??? hahah. Good thing I have thick skin. There is so much I would love to say, but I am just gonna sit on my hands and keep my mouth shut.
I will say this, I think that whatever they show, will probably look good if not great. When you put almost 6 figures into something like this with a professional production company, it should. I am curious as to what this big secret thing that has NEVER been done is. My guess is live drone coverage. If I am right, I win a lollipop.
My question is sustainability. What IF the big sponsors don't come running? They can't exactly afford to do this year after year until they do. Oh, that's right... our fault.
And I TRULY hope they do succeed. Because I am right in line to be one of the people that benefits from more eyeballs on Disc Golf. If sponsors come running, I am going to be there with my hand out as well from all the dollars flying in. opcorn:
Love this post. I wouldn't waste a post on this if we had a "like" function. But love this post.I have a PhD in Molecular Genetics, did research on chromosome segregation errors, the kinds that lead to Down Syndrome, and on telomere maintenance, thought to play a role in cancer prevention and aging. PhDs don't run around calling themselves Dr. It just doesn't happen, at least in BioMedicine. You hear lots of Professor, but the only people who call us Dr. are MDs. Frankly, it is almost a badge of honor to skip the I'm a Doctor thing. The culture litterally forbids students working to get PhDs from calling their mentors Dr. You are considered coworkers, fellows so to speak. Obviously, I can't speak for everyone, but every time I've heard a PhD call themselves a Dr. they worked in some minor field and almost never did any research. The research part is really what gives credibility by my experience.
MDs are called Dr. for a reason. They are taking other people's health and lives into their hands. They must have both credibility, and the trust of their patients. The MD tradition started because of that, and personally, I think it is appropriate. In one sense, you are setting researchers apart from MDs, one does important work, but the other does important work on people. That was how it was explained to me and my fellow classmates thirty years ago when I got my PhD. BTW - does Kilgus have small hands....
I seriously need to calm down after reading that. Im so mad I am literally shaking.
3 years ago, when I started a thread about how they had counteracted my not even very megative review of the Antidote with multiple positive reviews from the same IP Address you all called me a paranoid idiot and told me I took reviews too seriously. It got landfilled even after the ****ing owner of Infinite ****ing Discs confirmed what I was saying. I seriously got verbally torn apart for it. Then when I decided ti give them a second chance, I got torn apart again.
So I get why they are how they are. The internet is a fickle place that loves to tear people down way more than trying to build them up. But to stand there and aggorantly lie and say that virtually none of their critics have even dealt with them is ****ing bull****. I have email AND text messaging proof that I and my club tried to deal with them privately, out of the public eye. Yet they refused and then blocked MY ENTIRE ****ING CLUB because they sold us **** baskets.
**** these guys and **** the American Disc Golf Tour. They are crooks and con artists and deserve to be forever banned from disc golf.
It's just more classic Salient deflection. Rather than admitting they made some mistakes and taking responsibility, they think it's easier just to claim that the complaints come from people who have never been customers. In some cases that's true. In others it's not. But Salient specializes in half truths.
Yep. Andy, you're in that 5 percent that has dealt with them.
Honestly, I'm surprised no one has jumped on this yet: Apparently the only threshold for moving up to ESPN2 is production quality, not number of views on the live stream. That is...interesting.
Additionally, thanks to everyone who has been reading. I worked my ass off on this article and I am glad it is in front of some eyeballs.
Since he's not actually playing that would be unlikely.
Anyone else hoping that someone hits a ace on the car hole and there is controversy with ADGT not following through with their commitment? I could see this playing out.
DO they actually win the Jeep? Or is it one of those "cheap" leases?...
^yea I doubt they could afford Hotwheels..
Kinda. They shady AF.No. I'm not all that hung up on Typogate/Grammargate nor do I wish for anything to go horribly wrong. Do you?
